🧵 5 EASY-TO-AVOID SEWING MISTAKES! ✂️
Want to save yourself some unpicking? 😅 Here are five common sewing mistakes to watch out for!
🪡 1. Not pre-washing your fabric
Some fabrics shrink, so wash before cutting to avoid disappointment later!
✂️ 2. Forgetting to check your pattern
Double-check your size, grainline and pattern markings before cutting.
🧵 3. Using the wrong needle
Different fabrics need different needles. The right one makes all the difference!
📏 4. Skipping the test stitch
Test your stitch length and tension on a scrap of fabric before you start.
📌 5. Not matching your seams
Take time to line up your edges, notches and seams. A few extra pins or clips can make all the difference!
💕 A little preparation goes a long way towards a beautiful finish.

🧵 Are you having trouble with fabric getting caught or your machine jamming?
Before you panic, here are a few things to check! 👇
1️⃣ Check your threading
Is your machine threaded correctly, with the presser foot up when threading?
2️⃣ Check your needle
Is it undamaged and the correct type and size for the fabric you’re sewing?
3️⃣ Check your thread
Are you using good-quality thread? Poor-quality thread can cause all sorts of headaches!
4️⃣ Hold your threads when you start sewing
This simple little trick can help prevent the threads from being pulled down into the bobbin area.
5️⃣ Check your fabric placement
Make sure the fabric is completely covering the opening in your presser foot when you take your first stitch. This helps prevent the fabric from being pushed down into the needle plate.

It might be time to bring your machine in for a service.
👉 If you do, please bring: • A small sample of the fabric you’re having trouble sewing
• The thread you’re using, if possible
• And leave your machine threaded so we can see exactly how you have it set up.
Sometimes a little troubleshooting is all it takes to get you sewing happily again! 🧵😊
