Look how amazing these wildlife water stations are!

The Men’s Shed were recently donated funds from Fulton Hogan to make water stations for wildlife during the drought.

Gundy Kindergarten decorated them beautifully and have donated to us to raffle at this Sunday’s market.

Do you have a nice spot for these in your garden or on your property?

We will have tickets available for $2 each or 3 for $5 on Sunday where you can check them out in person and put in your lucky entries

We are a family that has ran Wildlife Empire in Goondiwindi since 2016.

We are licensed individual wildlife carers that cares for a vast array of animals from Gundy and all of its surrounds. We are regularly making trips to Inglewood, North Star, Dalby and many other locations to rescue wildlife that finds itself injured or orphaned.

It is our commitment to rescue, rehabilitate and release wildlife back to the wild where it belongs.

With the drought being ongoing we are finding more and more animals are needing extra assistance as they suffer - this has now been an issue for generations in most of the wildlife and is causing significant health issues.

The animals we help includes koalas, echidnas, kangaroos, possums, birds, reptiles, bats and orphaned farm animals.

Animals come into our care for a large range of reasons. Some are orphaned due to vehicle accidents. These are most often possums and kangaroos. Birds come in with injuries and also during spring there are fledglings that are misplaced from their nests and due to being in a built up area, it is unsafe for them to stay where they are to continue to learn to fly therefore need to come in to care until they are ready to fly properly to reduce the risk of being hurt by predators. Reptiles, birds, possums and echidnas usually find themselves victims to cat and dog attacks. Bats, birds and kangaroos are sometimes caught on barbed wire. Most patients that come to us require antibiotics to get themselves back on track to recovering. The orphaned wildlife can be with us for over a year. It is a huge commitment.

Each species of animal that comes in requires a specialised diet that we need to cater for - including live food items such as insects and mice that we either breed or buy in bulk to be able to supply. Depending on what we have in care at the time the costs of food varies - right now it is roughly $300 a month for food costs alone.

We are experienced in venomous snake relocations and assist members of the public with removal of snakes for both the protection of the snake and the community. Removals have been done from in the main street of Goondiwindi, the medical centre and many homes and caravan parks around the town.

We are not funded by the Government and pay for the expenses of operating out of our own pocket. Expenses include formula for milks, food, cleaning, medical supplies including medications, petrol (for rescues, snake relocations, trips to the vet and other carers etc) and specialised animal capturing equipment. We are often fundraising and relying on donations from members of the public to continue doing what we love.

As we live in town and not on property, we work closely with other carers that live on land for wildlife where the animals that can be returned slowly can do so with proper care and guidance from other experienced wildlife carers. These locations are as far away as 3 hours drive one way and we need to regularly make these trips to transport the wildlife to its next stage of release.

Please check out our Wildlife Empire page to see what we are currently doing
