MOST breastfeeding parents don’t need ni**le creams or balms.

Breast milk is full of antibacterial and healing properties that support the mothers ni**les to heal naturally. For ni**les that are not sore or cracked following feeding, the recommended management following a feed is to rub a small amount of breastmilk on the ni**les and let it dry.

Creams and balms with additional healing properties or barrier creams may be needed if there are wound or pain present. Look for creams that do not contain artificial preservatives or thickeners and that are safe for baby to feed soon after application and do not need wiping off, which may cause further ni**le trauma.

Why I became a Lactation Consultant (LC)

In 2012, my world changed when my first daughter was born. At the time, I was halfway through my studies to become a certified lactation consultant. However, unexpected birth complications quickly led to severe breastfeeding challenges. I suddenly found myself navigating the painful realities of cracked ni**les, relying on ni**le shields, and coping with an unsettled baby who was failing to thrive.

Thirteen years ago, reliable online lactation resources were scarce. Driven by a desperate need for answers to my own feeding struggles, I threw myself into completing my lactation training.
When I eventually returned to my role as a midwife, I realized this intense personal and academic journey had profoundly transformed me. The specialized knowledge and deep empathy I gained weren't just assets for me as a mother—they became an essential, defining component of who I am as a healthcare professional.

Today, over a decade later, my passion for safe infant feeding remains undiminished. I am honored to use my lived experience and professional expertise to support families in achieving their own unique feeding goals.

Madannah was designed when I couldn’t find a suitable cream for my children’s delicate allergy prone skin.

And my journey to Lactation was started as I sought answers for my own baby feeding challenges.
