Why Doesn't My Print Match My Screen?
Why does my print look different to my phone? 🤔

Every screen is different: iPhone to Samsung, Tablet, Computer, TV. There isn't one "correct" screen colour.
Every device has different brightness, colour settings and display technology.
The same logo can look different on four different screens.
Our phone creates colour using light. My printer creates colour using ink. They're speaking two different languages, so exact matches aren't always possible. That doesn't mean the print is wrong—it means physics wins every time.
Imagine your phone has a 120-piece box of crayons. My DTF printer has a 90-piece box. I can make almost every colour, but there are a few super-bright crayons your phone has that simply don't exist in ink. Ink processes are always changing, so there is an Ink called Chroma that has been developed and in the process of coming to us which helps hit 10% more colour ranges. So stay tuned for that.

😂 Confession time... who's guilty of using ChatGPT to create artwork? 🙋‍♀️

Don't get me wrong—I use ChatGPT all the time. It's brilliant for ideas, writing, brainstorming... and sometimes even image concepts.

BUT...

Just because it looks amazing on your phone doesn't mean it's ready to print.

I've seen:
🤣 Three arms
🤣 Nine fingers
🤣 Words spelt... creatively
🤣 Fuzzy text
🤣 Backgrounds that refuse to disappear
🤣 Logos that somehow melt into the design

Then there's my other favourite...
📸 "Here's my logo!" (sends a Facebook screenshot)

Every printer reading this just felt their eye twitch. 😂 (I've got 3 kids, I have enough stress)
A great print starts with great artwork.
For the best results, send us:
✅ PNG with a transparent background
✅ PDF
✅ AI, EPS or SVG (if you have them)

And before anyone asks... I'm not a graphic designer. I can change colours, retype text, remove backgrounds and tidy up a few things, but some files arrive looking like they've survived three generations of screenshots and AI adventures. 😅

If you're ever unsure whether your artwork is print-ready, send it through first. I'd much rather spend two minutes checking it than have you disappointed with the final result.

POV: Your little side dream starts becoming something much bigger. 🥹

Some days I still can't believe this happened.
The arrival of our second DTF printer was a huge milestone for The Coastal Printing Co.
It wasn't about having another machine—it was about creating a more reliable business for our customers, reducing downtime, taking on larger orders, and continuing to grow.

Running a small business isn't always glamorous. It's early mornings, problem-solving, learning as you go, and celebrating the wins when they come.
