Thelma & Lola sewn with love Custom ladies & children’s coats and vests from upcycled woollen blankets. All lovingly handmade by me, Jen in Grindelwald, Tasmania 🇦🇺

Why the name I have been asked. The name is very personal to me. Thelma & Lola were my Nan and my Grandma, who had major involvement in my growing up years. They both loved me unconditionally when I needed it the most. Grandma (Lola) taught me to sew on her treadle, an interest which grew over the years into a passion. Nan (Thelma) was always there with tons of love, knowledge & advice. Sewn with

1/2 garments for lovely Liz in Victoria. This is to be a special gift for her sister.
Lining is flanelette, due to really cold area her sister lives.
Blankets & lining can be chosen via pictures. Buttons were some vintage old stock that matched the colours perfectly.
Size 12 ladies, 4 buttons, 2 fully lined patch pockets & hood 💛

When I sew, to me an iron has almost the same amount of importance as a sewing machine.

Late last week my iron died. I cut out & sewed as much as i could without ironing, but ended up with a pile to finish & on a time limit.

Since my new k’Archer iron arrived, its been full steam ahead. Its been a big week.

Here is a small jacket sample with individual photos to follow during the week.

My coats are made with love. They aren’t rushed & churned out. While I am sewing I constantly have it in my mind the person I am making it for. I am invested in their vision 💛💛

Trying to photograph this new order on a cold, rainy, foggy Grindelwald day. (I did cut the tiny buttonhole thread off 🤦‍♀️).
A new baby girl will have this to grow into & wear for a few years

Earlier this year I donated a coat for the Launceston birth centre fundraiser.
Imagine my surprise to be sent this photo of this most gorgeous little dolly Grace who is interstate, whose Aunty gifted her the coat for her birthday.
Now Mum has just placed a further order.
The garments do look so much better on live models but Ive shown on & off model for context.

A very special gift & it brings joy to my heart that the coat I made is so loved 💛
