Yesterday a client flew in from Melbourne specially to spend the day with me.
She had been watching me on social media for a while, and she finally decided it was time to book her Colour Confidence Day, which high is 3 hours of colour analysis, followed by lunch and a shopping trip together.
It was one of those days that reminds me exactly why I love this work, I always have the most lovely clients and today was no exception.
Here's what we covered in her session:
- We started by working out whether she was more yellow based or blue based, then whether she was bright or muted. That gave us her season: Autumn.
- We matched her to makeup that suited her colouring, including a tinted moisturiser she loved so much she bought it on the spot.
- We found her contour and blusher shades, plus three lipstick colours: a coral, a red and a rust. I also stock makeup so the blusher, rust and red lippies are also going home with her.
- I then draped every single one of her seasonal colours on her, one at a time, to find her personal highs and lows within the season.
This is such an important step. Knowing your season gets you in the right general direction, but knowing your personal top colours is what gives you that real pop.
- She turned out to be a beautifully individual case. She had some of her brightest tones as top colours (her reds, her rust, her grass green) but also carried a lot of her darker tones really well too, like chestnut, moss and dark olive. So she didn't fit neatly into one box, or subsection, and that's exactly the point. I never squeeze anyone into a season stereotype. We find what actually works for you.
- After a lovely lunch at a local cafe, we went shopping with a specific event in mind. We found two strong options, checked the return policy, and she's taking both home to make the final call in her own space and light with the rest of the outfit. We also found a great pair of jeans and a couple of pieces to check if available in her size.
What stood out most was how self-aware she already was about her body and proportions. We simply built on that with real colour and styling knowledge, and had a genuinely fun, relaxed day of self care together.
If you would love a day like this, whether you want to finally understand what suits you, learn how to use your colour swatch with confidence, or go shopping with real direction, this is exactly what the Colour Confidence Day is for.
