‘Growing up in Calcutta, always taught me unity and existence of culture’s sub-cultures and traditions. After my schooling, when I expressed interest to study abroad it was opposed by many, saying, how would I, as a girl, survive alone abroad”. From a very young age I always believed in women empowerment and have given importance to women’s power and taking control over decisions and issues to shape their lives.

My challenges and struggles have inspired me to help others’

‘I want to take part in this fashion show as I resonate with the cause we are doing it for.
Women’s health and safety is such an important topic and I am passionate about showing awareness as I understand what these women we are supporting are going through from some personal experience. I’m wanting to walk in this show to show our community women can go through so much but still come out stronger on the other side’.

Hello my name is Marina and I am one of the women wearing the clothes you will see on the day. I am a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. I volunteered to be part of this fundraising gala event because I realise just how lucky I am.

As a widow and an aged pensioner I could well have been in a situation that many of the women this charity is helping, are in today.

If like me you have been wondering how to help, then buying a ticket to this event could be a way of helping in interesting and fun way, meeting other people, enjoying a dinner and seeing the latest clothes modelled for you. Please support this group of women helping women.

The centre exists to assist women who for many reasons find themselves disadvantaged in accessing the health system.

The Fashion Show Gala Fundraiser is highlighting this centre and helping raise much needed funds to help grow and maintain the services

The Katoomba Health and Resource Centre services the Blue Mountains out to Lithgow and all the Hawkesbury District.
