Our very patient shop teddy has been helping show off these beautiful Royal Doulton Moss Rose trios today.

Each trio includes a teacup, saucer and side plate, with soft pink and yellow roses, pale green handles and trim, and that lovely post-war Royal Doulton charm.

The backstamp dates them to 1946, so they’re just about 80 years old — still pretty, still useful, and clearly teddy-approved.

We have six trios available.

People often ask how often we get new stock.

The answer is: every day.

Every day there’s another box to unpack, another little pile of treasures to clean, price and find a spot for.

Today’s arrivals include a beautiful black coffee set, a sweet Scottish cup trio, a retro casserole with salt and pepper, a vintage bread bowl, Carlton Ware, Bavarian lattice ware and a few more pretty bits tucked in between.

That’s the joy of vintage — the shop is never quite the same two days in a row.

A lovely vintage Yamato dinner set from Japan, decorated with delicate blue flowers and finished with a silver trim.

There are 36 pieces in total, including dinner plates, side plates, bowls, cups and saucers, making it perfect for family dinners, afternoon tea or simply displaying in a vintage kitchen.

I love the soft blue tones in this set. It feels very much of its era, yet would sit beautifully in a modern home.

Coffee and finishing a book on the verandah.
A little bit of colour for a grey rainy day.
Op shopping and coffee out with my eldest daughter.
A sunroof moment in the rain.
A visit with Mum and Dad.
Then home to work on the website by the “fire”… and perhaps start a new book.

Not glamorous. Just good.

These two lovely antique jugs have found their way into the shop this week, and while they weren’t made as a set, they certainly look as though they’ve spent the last century together.

The larger Staffordshire jug, decorated with cheerful daisies, dates to around 1900 and stands 20cm tall. Beside it sits a charming little cream jug with delicate hand-painted roses and soft green shading.

Both feature the gentle colours and floral decoration that made Victorian and Edwardian tableware so popular, and they would look beautiful holding garden flowers, displayed on a dresser, or simply enjoyed as part of a collection.

In a world of quick clicks and online orders, taking the time to choose (or make) a card, write a note, find a stamp or two and post it is something pretty special.
