I’ve been quiet on my Facebook business page due to Coronavirus Lockdowns. I’m doing some work behind-the-scenes to plan how I can keep creating and making in our new COVID-19 world. I’m also enjoying doing some simple watercolour crayon sketches. Might turn these into embroidery, knit and fabric designs.

Dear followers of my page: I’ve been a bit quiet on this page as I process the exponential growth of the Coronavirus. What to do? Well...

After 10 years I’ve set up a personal twitter account. Please follow me on Twitter ... This new personal account will be for fun and frivolity and provide a safe, positive place to get our heads around covid-19. There will be practical tips on self care and I’ll be sharing tips on how to connect with each other while practicing or as I prefer to get through the Coronavirus covid-19 pandemic.

There will also be cooking tips from and asset based community development resources to help us navigate the health crisis we find ourselves in. Lets support each other through this.

A true slow-textile artisan.

Jin Shirai has mastered each of the traditionally separate roles of Japan's handicraft textile industry — from growing cotton, spinning it and dyeing the yarn, to weaving and designing fabrics.

Indigo shibori on silk and cotton blend scarf. It looks like a woven Ikat pattern but is made by twisting and tying the fabric to create a resist pattern. I love this technique and pattern effect.
