COTTON KHADI ALMOST SOLD OUT!
Thanks to the overwhelming response to our announcement last night, many items have already sold out or are close to all gone!
We are down to the last 18 metres of Khadi #6 and 12 metres of Khadi #12

https://fabricofhumanity.com/collections/khadi

This 100% natural cotton, hand-loomed Khadi is the same cloth Mahatma Ghandi rekindled the production of, over 100 years ago, to revolutionise the Indian economy and regain independence. Khadi effectively supports a rich tradition of artisan ways, unites communities, gives regenerative employment to whole villages and weaves humanity into every thread.

We are proud to have been able to support these communities for the past 4 years and are very sad to end this connection x

Thank you to those who interacted with yesterday’s poll 🙏
Predictably, it’s getting far more exposure & interaction over on instagram stories. Seems it’s near impossible to get reach on fb any more. But we’ll keep things going in here for the few of you who do see our posts, as it’s clear that you’re mostly here for the pretty pictures 😉

A tiny insect, Laccifer lacca, is a species of scale insect. It secretes tubes of resin known as lac onto the branches of trees, mostly acacia, soapberry and figs throughout India, Thailand, Burma and other South east Asian countries. It is also this resin that is used to make shellac used for wood finishes.

The insects diverse body colours create the hues from crimsons through to burgundy reds to deep purples with modifiers.

Dye is to be extracted from resin prior to being used in a dye bath, for this reason we supply Lac extract to make it a lot easier for you.

Lac creates excellent results on protein fibres having good results with both light and wash fast properties using 5 - 8% WOF. On cellulose it is good but not as higher grade light and wash fast properties, a higher percentage of dye may be required.
