📍WOW what a lovely evening we had celebrating all things sewing, providing our sewists the opportunity to wear what had been sewn in and outside of the classroom.
📍Our Garment making course hosted by the very talented Liz Elliott of Thread Faction Studio has been an absolute hit with our customers. The outfits that have then been made once our sewing skills have been re-honed were impressive.
📍Frocktails was such a hit we will be hosting another one come Summer, so pop into Patchwork on Pallas grab yourself some fabric and get sewing that next Frocktails outfit....

Expressions of interest are being taken for another Accuquilt Day in 2027 👏🏻👏🏻

Join Debbie Lomas Accuquilt Product Manager for Blessington in a day of learning everything GO Qube Mix & Match 8" block set and the GO! System.
📍By learning we mean Deb will walk you through making this striking star block with a pieced boarder all cut using the Accuquilt system.
📍The morning will be an information session covering the GO! Cutters, GO! Qube systems and basic cutting techniques.
The afternoon session will be a sit & sew class. 📍This is an excellent techniques-based class, providing you with valuable skills, practical knowledge and a greater confidence using the GO! System.

📍Uniforms 4 Kids is an innovative program repurposing donated law enforcement and emergency services organisations uniforms, which would have otherwise been disposed of, into beautiful and unique clothes made with love for children who have a need no matter who they are or where they are located. This is an opportunity for frontline officers, other emergency services personnel and wildlife officers to connect with children and families in ways that they are not usually able to do. In turn this creates a broad trust relationship that serves to engage with and protect children and their families.
📍Patchwork on Pallas is proud to be part of this initiative offering our sewing space for the Maryborough arm of U4K to meet once a month. Volunteers drop off clothing & quilts created using the uniforms donated along with collecting more to work on. To date our Maryborough volunteers have created over 100 items towards the 92000+ articles of clothing donated so far by all of the U4Ks volunteers across the country.
📍Uniforms 4 Kids meets on the last Friday of the month from 10-12noon at Patchwork on Pallas, everyone is welcome to become part of this pay it forward initiative.

📍A hump jumper (also widely known as a bulky seam aid, seam jumper or jean-a-ma-jig) is an essential inexpensive plastic tool used to keep your sewing machine's presser foot completely level when sewing over thick, bulky seams.
📍When the presser foot hits a massive fabric hump (like the flat-fell side seam of a pair of jeans or heavy canvas bag straps), the front of the foot tilts upward. This tilt disrupts thread tension, causing skipped stitches, uneven stitch lengths and frequently broken needles
📍Most commercial hump jumpers are dual sided, offering two different thicknesses (typically 1/8" and 3/16") to balance out different weights of fabric

The focus of this class is on building technique rather and completing a project, ensuring you leave with the skills and knowledge to unlock the full potential of your overlocker. With these skills you'll be able to give every sewing project a polished, professional finish.

Skills you'll gain:

🧵. Identify and understand the basic parts of your overlocker

🧵. Learn step-by-step threading methods, and how to change your thread colour quickly once your machines is already threaded

🧵. How to adjust your machine settings for different fabrics.

🧵. Several methods for starting and finishing your overlocking

🧵. 3-thread seam finishes, gathering and rolled hems

🧵. Overlocking tight corners and curves and a curved hem techique.

📍Thursdays now host two Sit & Sew groups AM & PM.
Thursday AM Sit & Sew was my initial introduction to Patchwork on Pallas, these ladies welcomed me into the fold after moving up here and looking for a creative outlet which offered the opportunity to literally sit & sew, meet new people and get to know the lay of the land.
📍Their skills and creativity continue to shine with an eclectic mix of quilting, hand sewing, Sashiko and the odd day of unpicking.....
Thursday PM Sit & Sew joined us mid-year and literally hit the ground sewing, regularly producing bags and handy totes within the 3 hours of their time at Patchwork on Pallas.
Quilts are also created in the back ground but boy do these ladies get through some sewing..... it's inspiring and tiring at the same time, but we love that they love our sewing room and want to be a busy as they can whilst with us.
📍Well done to all our Sit & Sew Ladies. You are a constant inspiration to myself and the Kreative Kiwi and we love seeing you enjoy the sewing room space we've created for you.

🧵Liberty Summer fair is a base cloth screen printed onto 100% premium Lasenby Cotton, with the intended use for quilting, dressmaking and home furnishings. Standard width is 110cm (44"/45").
