Who wants minis?!

After a sad small business style packaging set back, it turns out we need to rebottle more paint than I initially realised late last year (insert sad face)..

But it got me thinking - how can I turn lemons into lemonade?! 🍋 A few lovely loyals over the last 12 months have asked if we’ll be stocking a mini paint set at any stage, so I’m think now could be the time to try!

What do you think? 6 x 100ml pack for $20?

Why are creative products and art supplies so often presented in such in snooze-worthy ways?!

I totally believe that the use-ability and quality of art supplies is what matters most. 💯

BUT, I’ve never understood why creative products are usually presented in really unimaginative or creative ways. Surely if a company trades on igniting creativity, they can start the process with a little spark? ⚡️

We have some beeeeautiful new products on the horizon that reimagine what kids art supplies can look like, feel like (and gift like). I am SO excited to share them with you soon!

In the meantime these beautiful paint bottles still bring me so much joy and have been such a consistent highlight in your amazing customer reviews. Thanks for all your wonderful feedback so far.

PART 2 - Question: 'Why are your paints any different to all the others out there?'

We hate waste! We have very deliberately designed every element of our kids paint set to ensure we Reduce, Reuse & Recycle at every opportunity. This means:

🩷Every component of our set can be reused or recycled
💚We use padded craft mailer bags to ship our products
🩵Each item of the set fits very snuggly into our parcel, so that we can avoid adding layers of plastic wraps, bands and trays
💜 And, our box is even compostable (or recyclable)!

I absolutely understand why I see so much unnecessary packaging and plastic shrink wraps, etc when I'm shopping for the kids - it's cheap & it makes everything look shiny and perfect. Though I understand it from a business sense, as a mum of little people, I don't want to contribute to it.

PROMPT LIKE A PRO 🩷 How do you guide your little person when they're asking for help during art time?

Assisting them, without being tactfully lured into the 'doing' side of things, can be tricky! Since my boy was pint sized he's always asked if I could "just do it" for him! 😅 Here are three ideas we've tried and tested to help overcome mini artists' block:

1. Ask open ended questions. For example; 'Can you tell me about your ideas?' or 'I wonder what would happen if you tried...? ' are great for a quick reframe and refocus!

2. Encourage experimentation and new ideas by suggesting they explore the wildest / brightest / happiest combination of patterns / colours / shapes / etc they can come up with. This is also an amaaaazing activity for teaching them how to express emotions on paper!

3. Start direct prompts with 'maybe you could try...' when they've had a go but are still asking you for more direct input. We've all been there! 😅 When we're in this zone, I try to make sure I'm starting with a word like 'maybe' or 'perhaps' so they still feel empowered as creative director!

How do you prepare your kids for a future that is more automated and changing so rapidly?? 🧐 It can be seriously overwhelming to think about...😞 But here's one thing you can do to support them - encourage more CREATIVE thinking! ⚡️
INTUITION, PERSPECTIVE, PROBLEM SOLVING, RESILIENCE - these are just some of the wonderful building blocks nurtured by creative time that are bound to be extremely valuable as the world continues to change.
