Nobody told me the first year would look like this.

The 2,500 nappy changes. The 1,800 bottles to wash. The 5,000 loads of washing. The 600 hours of sleep you will never get back.

All while your body is recovering from one of the most significant physical events of your life.

Nobody told you it would feel like this. And that is exactly why Frida exists.
For the moments that catch you off guard. For the recovery nobody prepares you for. For the parent doing all of this in the dark, half asleep, with everything they have got.

We see you. 🤍

Nobody told me how to care for my tear after birth.

Mon will.

Because “rest” does not mean sitting directly on the part of your body trying to recover.

, Midwife and founder of The Middee Society, joined us at Nobody Told Me to have the honest conversations every pregnant mum deserves before birth.

In this moment, she explains why rest after a va**nal birth can mean getting completely horizontal and taking the pressure off your perineum.

Save this for after birth. Send it to a pregnant mum who deserves to know before then. 🤍

Step 2 -- Wear Postpartum Disposable Underwear.

There is a product that belongs in every hospital bag that almost nobody knows about.

After birth your perineum needs gentle, immediate care. Not guessing. Not improvising. Something that actually works from the very first use.

FridaMom Perineal Healing Foam is formulated with witch hazel and aloe vera -- two of the most effective natural ingredients for postpartum perineal relief. It cleanses, soothes, and supports healing gently and effectively in the days and weeks after birth.

Midwives love it. Women who have used it will tell you it belongs in the bag before you pack anything else.

Nobody sees the 3am shift.

Nobody gives you a medal for it. Nobody tells you it gets easier. Nobody warns you that the love and the exhaustion feel exactly the same at this hour.

It ends.

You are doing great. 🤍

You are not behind.

You are not doing it wrong.

You are doing it for the first time.

There is no manual. There is no getting it perfect. There is only showing up, figuring it out, and knowing that the fact you are trying this hard already means you are doing it right.

We are here for every bit of it.

Here is what nobody puts in the discharge notes.

Perineal recovery has a real timeline. Knowing what to expect at each stage makes the whole thing less frightening and more manageable.

Week 1 -- the hardest week. Swelling, soreness, and sensitivity are completely normal. Sitting can be uncomfortable. Use your peri bottle with every bathroom visit. Instant ice pads provide immediate relief. Rest as much as you can.

Week 2 -- things start to ease. Swelling reduces and stitches (if you have them) begin to dissolve. Soreness is still present but noticeably less intense. Continue gentle cleansing with your peri bottle. Perineal foam helps with ongoing comfort and healing.

Week 4 -- feeling significantly better. External healing is largely complete for most va**nal births. You may still have some internal tenderness. Gentle movement is fine. Listen to your body. If anything feels off, see your midwife or GP.

Recovery is not linear. And that is completely normal.
