Sexy, sultry, desperate for attention.... La Tosca wants you to come closer so she might envelope you with her scent. Sensual as a Rose, elusive as Incense; Madame Tosca is a shape-shifting Muse, here tonight gone tomorrow, while her perfumed heart lingers on your skin for days. An encounter which plays upon your skin and evokes herself in your memory. Too near her flame, ah it is impossible! Love her and leave her, she may never leave you.

THIS JUST IN! My long awaited bottle of Shalimar Souffle d'Oranger has arrived and she is a wonderous fragrance for spring. Naturally, bias toward the ever contemplated note of Neroli may well affect my judgement; however in true Guerlain style, there is nothing understated about Souffle d'Oranger.

Shalimar Souffle d'Oranger is yet another niche forged from the recent reformulation of Guerlain's long time hallmark fragrance, Shalimar. Though most Guerlain lovers know well enough that today's Shalimar is not yesterday's Shalimar. In fact, I do not sense much adherance to the new Shalimar in Souffle d'Oranger either, excepting the epic fan shaped bottle of the epoch Eau de Cologne. If one were to judge this fragrance on packaging alone, Souffle d'Oranger could never disappoint; though there is little disappointing in the fragrance itself.

Shalimar Souffle d'Oranger is however, a close skin scent. It is not the type of perfume which will bowl over everyone in the room as you enter. But it is effortlessly classy. It begins with a knockout Bergamote and Pettit Grain combination, green and gargantuan, then swiftly softens into a creamy white floral in lieu of it's namesake. The orange blossom neroli notes are as creamy and dreamy as the blossoms of an orange tree in the warm days of early summer, when the pollen is ripe and the bees buzz lazily from flower to flower.

The fragrance turns then to a slightly powdery warm and soft rendition of that summer bloom, and this is where the subtle spice reminsicent of Shalimar shines through ever so gently. It's the drydown in this one which holds it best aspect and although the sillage is not epic, the longevity is a little better, sticking around strongly for about four hours.

I whole heartedly reccomend this rare gem. Shalimar Souffle d'Oranger is around for a good time, not a long time! So why not take a gentle plunge and get yourself a 10ml decant?

Much love and Joyeux Noël! from Eau d'état x

PS I've just had Penhaligon's Vaara and Lo**ta Lempicka's Eau du Désir come in to stock. Both are likewise perfect for the season, so get yourself some!

Eau d'état have a 5 for the price of 4 deal right now too!

From the annals of time, Royal Apothic stems from a business minded discovery of an old 'apothecary manual' in a book shop in London. Indeed, Royal Apothic seems like it might well factor into a byline from the movie Notting Hill. Their line of fragrances are in no way less fantastical. Field Poppy was part of their first collection 'Conservatories' released in the department store chain 'Anthropologie' in the US, but shelved after 2012.

Field Poppy has a lovely woody earthiness to it, it is in fact a Floral Woody Musk according to its profile. And though the notes are characterised as being linear, the fragrance itself has a wonderful depth as it dries down into a sweet floral greeness, epitomising its name as it captures the image of a field of poppy flowers. Imagine a luminous golden sun shining its rays down upon you, warming the green earth all around you. The world suddenly becomes a study in pastels, a landscape stretches itself beneath an oak frame, life becomes ultimately picturesque.

Royal Apothic fragrances contain between a 15 and 20% concentration of perfume oils, their sillage is wide and the longevity is infinite. In spite of their brilliance and unparalleled quality, Royal Apothic fragrances are typically hard to aquire, Field Poppy has been discontinued for some time, but the beautifully crafted bottle housed in its oakwood box wrapped in muslin cloth still carries the same characteristics it held when I bought it many moons ago.

My first impression of Royal Apothic was that there is magic within their formula. Perhaps the 'apothecary manual' is in fact an enchanted manuscript penned by a woodland nymph and illuminated by her wand of hazelwood. Whatever the source of the magic, you will not find this little gem anywhere! Royal Apothic have since gone online again and though they do deliver to Australia, the international postage is almost equal to the product. Field Poppy is however discontinued, so if you want a sample of this beauty, here is where you will find it!

10ml decants are $45 and come in our signature glass atomisers with the little black bow.

Happy scenting x

Eau, Lo**ta! What a delicious mix this fragrance is. I would veer towards calling this fragrance unique, but it holds so much in common with Lola by Marc Jacobs, that it would be silly of me to say this fragrance is at all individual; and yet it is! Si Lo**ta might well constitute all the attributes of a 'dupe' as far as its shared DNA with the sadly discontinued Lola is concerned, there is a woodiness to it which somehow reminds me of the sweet scent of pencil shavings from my highschool pencil case, my fixation of which was both confusing and bemusing among those adolescent discoveries of what illicited my particular attention.

It is perhaps the citrus in Si Lo**ta's composition which deems it different. Aside from that, the notes are very similar to Lola. Like Lola, this fragrance is beautifully blended, innovatively, there is a sweetness to it but it is never overpowering and no single element stands alone from first spray to dry down. And that dry down is to die for!

Let us hope that Si Lo**ta remains upon the LL repertoire without being harrassed by reformulation as the Lo**ta Lempicka original has suffered. Like the first Lo**ta Lempicka and its glass apple, the bottle is beautifully crafted and unlike anything else on earth. A four leaf clover with gilded edges and a tiny chiffon accent, as if the entire bottle represents a stylish Parisian woman who wears nothing but her favourite scarf and yet feels she is perfectly 'dressed'.

Who knows how long this gorgeous little gem will remain on the market untouched by the company's desire to attact a younger generation of patroness. Perhaps in a few years time we will be presented with a sharply pointed bottle/paper weight filled with a watered down version of what Si Lo**ta once was, followed by an outcry from those of us whom remember the 'originally' so fondly.

10ml decants are $39 plus postage.

Oh, this Green Goddess! Imagine the notorious Poison Ivy latching herself on to any man she chooses, immersing her victim in the greenest of green scents, ethereal and magical; unearthly. Eve before the sacred tree, her eyes upon the forbidden fruit.

There really is nothing quite like Aura. It's notes are blended into something surreal. Aura is touted as an Amber fragrance, but I suspect this distinction was made based upon the composition as it appears on paper, for there is no classification which does it justice.

In true Mugler style, Aura is alone in a field of her own; but the field is a forest and the forest is beset by mythical beasts and nymphs as they wash their feet in enchanted fountains.

10ml decants of this delicious gem are $29* plus postage.

*All decants come in our signature glass bottle with the little black bow.

Spring has come baring gifts; she is 'Ostara' and she is the goddess of earthly beauty and renewal. On this fine day drenched in sun, Ostara has come into her own. You might catch her with bees buzzing about her, her head bobbing in the light breeze. You may even sense her brilliance as you look upon the flowers which have now revealed themselves after months of their being hidden beneath the ground.

Ostara captures perfectly those sunny yellow blooms as they present themselves to us in the warm weather. In fact, Ostara is a photo real representation of the Daffodil and the Jonquill, complete with a veil of morning dew and the fresh wet earth at their feet.

Penhaligon's Ostara is quite literally named for the Goddess of Sping, the truth of which becomes very apparent upon the lightest of sprays. The golden juice within the standard Penhaligon's London shaped bottle seems as if it could be the result of some magical nymph and her desire to capture for perpetuity the scent of spring into a bottle. The floral notes are entirely realistic and one might easily swoon from her arrow pointed accuracy.

Although Ostara is an Eau de Toilette, her longevity is eternal and much like the flowers she represents, those yellow floral notes have a very wide sillage. It is a shame this fragrance has been discontinued, because the scent might easily fill the void for nature lovers trapped in their houses all winter long.

I have a 100ml bottle of this beauty and am poised at the ready for anybody who wants to get their hands upon a decant.

10ml Decants are $39* Plus Postage.

*All Decants come in our signature glass bottle with the little black bow.
