The beauty of this trip is we try to get the best of both worlds. There’s so many different ways we can go about our time here but for now we’ve chosen to live in different cities across Australia and work for short intervals while travelling in between. Now that we’re in Melbourne we are working as much as possible before our next little adventure. This means we don’t have alot of free time and we don’t get to visit Melbourne too often. Right here is an example of one of our very few days together where we chose to walk around Melbourne CBD. We happened to come across Hosier Lane, a little alley that is solely dedicated to graffiti artists, giving them plenty of wall space to express themselves and their artwork freely, with thousands of people coming through there daily to witness hundreds of thousands of different graffiti light up an alley. We actually got a chance to put our own little graffiti in this mystic alley too, so we are now a part of a Melbourne tourist attraction 🤗 one of the really interesting realizations we had came to us while one of the graffiti artists was going over another piece of artwork, and it donned on us that there must be dozens of layers of artwork under each graffiti, forever gone. The most important thing we realized was that these artists were expressing themselves without fear of being judged. They just want to put their art on the walls. How cool must that be? Living a life free of feeling judged by others? F**k what people think, do what makes you happy ✌😊 @ Hosier Lane Street Art

So to give a little back story, our first week in Melbourne was very rough. We had saved up alot of money from our time in Sydney so that wasn’t our main concern, our main concern was not having a place to live. Those people who were renting out properties were not interested in our short-term proposal of a month and a half, as most were looking for 3 months. So we were forced to settle with a room in Bentleigh, 300$ for the week to give us time to find something else. The problem? The place was awful. Absolutely no maintenance whatsoever, spiderwebs everywhere, floors peeling off, bugs crawling all over the place. We got in our room and managed to salvage it with Alexia’s talents for keeping things squeeky clean. You could imagine what 1 week in this hellhole must’ve felt like. Our only upside? We went out to eat EVERY night. Know why? Cause the stove was surrounded by cobwebs. So we managed to snag ourselves a few pizza nights at the friendly pizzeria’s nearby, with all three of them being more than welcoming to us once we stepped through the door. However, one in particular went above and beyond, with our waitress admiring our love for each other. So much, that she wanted to take our picture for us. Does pizza make everything better? We think so.

We had Phil Colins in Sydney, in Melbourne we decided to go to the Eminem concert. Should we try going to a concert each place we go to 🤔?? It was super last minute and super expensive but well worth it. We grew up listening to & to see him live, spitting out his lines as fast as he does was unreal, he’s a true legend. Also this was the first concert we’ve ever been to with an open arena & let me tell you if you haven’t experienced it before you should get on it because listening to an artist and being able to look up at the stars at the same time is amazing.. and don’t forget the fireworks... you completely lose yourself ...😏 🖕🏽

Going through the motions in Melbourne, we had the opportunity to visit the NGV in Melbourne CBD, and what an experience. Surrounded by history, art, and Rocco the security guard. Nathaniel was walking around the center, wearing a sweater, when Rocco the security guard walked up to him. He asked “what are you doing here?” and left Nathaniel confused. Rocco took one look at the crest, and started to hyperventilate. We were both so confused as to what was happening, when tears started to run down his face as he gasped for air, and looked at Nathaniel and said “you just made me so anxious”. To clarify, the crest of is a bull, that of the Italian club Torino. Turns out Rocco is a die-hard Torino fan, and seeing the words Superga with the bull brought him back to the time when Torino’s players died in a plane crash in 1949, dubbed the “Superga” air disaster. From that moment on, Nathaniel became Rocco’s best friend, and he offered us help with whatever we needed throughout our stay in Melbourne. You meet people in the weirdest ways, travelling is quite something.

Regardless of our horrifying first week in Melbourne, we still found an excuse to go to the beach, Dendy Beach to be precise, home of the Brighton Boxes. A shoreline stacked with little sheds that people own/rent to store their beach supplies and make little living spaces for the weekend. Each shed is painted differently making it a truly interesting place to visit. Alexia would not sleep until she got all the pictures she needed at this place. The problem was getting the pictures, because there were SO many people trying to take pictures on these brighton boxes. How would you feel having thousands of foreigners sitting on the porch of your beach shed? Who cares, you don’t have a beach shed so we might as well take pictures on others’ beach sheds, duh.

This was the first day we ever touched wallabies in Australia. The beginning of our trip seemed so usual; from the minute we got off the plan we felt like we were home. Everything seemed the same with just some tweaks; independence of course, warm weather but everything else seemed so usual. Nat would always say I will not believe I’m in Australia until I touch a roo. The day we walked walked in this parkand saw them hoping around coming near us we looked at each other & said we. are. in. Australia.
You can just see by the smiles on our faces how happy we are & Let me tell you seeing a roo live and feeding them is indescribable you have to experience it once in your life!

Happy Valentines Day From Us to you. 💙 swipe left to see what a reg day for us looks like.
From Lex: A simple day to a simple night, it began with pieces of cheese cut in hearts ... to cooking my favourite meal. You made pizza for dinner, as I watched you cook looking like a big child playing, how it makes me smile each time. Then for dessert we laid on the couch eating chocolate strawberries drinking wine & having you play with my hair while singing Phil Collins in my ear having goosebumps run up & down my body & ending our night with no surprises cuddled in bed talking about space to then fall asleep with the sound of Harry Potter in the background. Happy Oz Valentines Baby thank you for everything. I love you my Pudge
From Nat: Being alone with you and away from the noise back home puts things into perspective. The stuff that seemingly mattered means nothing, and everything that does matter is right next to me ❤ Wine, Pizza and Phil Collins. How do you top that? Oh ya, Harry Potter in bed 💫 I love you and Happy Valentines Day ❤ @ Footscray, Victoria, Australia

This past weekend we spent our evening at the infamous St Kilda Festival which attracts over 400,000 people! It’s the biggest free music festival in Australia and we happened to be in Melbourne for it. Melbourne has been really s**t for us over the last week and a half and this capped it off nicely. Met up with our german friend and got to see the Melbourne festival scene first hand. We’re happy we got the chance to experience it and see how beautiful St Kilda can be through all the s**t we dealt with ✌❤

Last August the two of us decided to travel and make Australia our “home” for 2019. This took alot of sacrifice on both our parts and was a test we were willing to take to see what we’re made of, both as individuals and for each other. Today officially marks two months into our journey, and we are proud of how we’ve grown to adapt to the never-ending ups and downs of living abroad. This picture represents that no matter how much s**t we’re dealing with and no matter where we are, as long as we’re together we’ll be “home” ❤️
