Where to get chic bed linen? Harriet Home.

I headed into Harriet to put together a softer winter bed, mixing warm earth tones with different weights and textures.

A neutral palette doesn’t need more colour to feel interesting; it needs texture and layers. Frilled edges, micro-waffle texture, and a quilted coverlet and shams bring the whole bed to life.

The cotton–cashmere blend is particularly lovely for winter: warm and beautifully soft without feeling heavy.

The July Edit.

While the rest of the world sips Aperol spritzes in the sun, I’m living out my days in winter. Consider this your guide to what to wear, buy, eat and get up to once it cools down where you are.

I suppose that’s the benefit of being on the other side of the world. I’m technically ahead of you in both time and season, so it only makes sense that I’m your tastemaker for what to get on board with when winter eventually reaches you.

And if you’re a fellow Australian, there’s still plenty of winter left to soak up all this goodness. Not that it expires at the end of August. Good taste generally survives a few seasons 😉

Enjoy!

5 Brutal Bed Tips - Because I know you prefer it this way 😉

You know I love lots of layers on a bed. I Also love king pillows on a king bed. Although, whilst lots of layers looks great on a bed, is it functional? Like the turn down service with all the extra blankets and cushions.. it makes it tricky to get to into each night and make every morning. It’s a tough one! Beautiful looking bed! But is it equal parts form and function?

Fed up Hospital Corner tutorial.. for the thousandth time 😉

One of those little details that makes a bed look instantly more put together? Hospital corners.

They sound far more intimidating than they actually are, but once you learn the fold, you’ll never go back to stuffing the excess sheet underneath and hoping for the best.

The trick is creating a clean crease before you tuck everything in. That one fold keeps the top sheet sitting neatly against the mattress, stops excess fabric bunching around the corners, and gives your bed that crisp, tailored finish you often notice in hotels.

People often assume a beautifully made bed comes down to expensive linen, but it’s usually the small techniques that make the biggest difference. Learning how to fold a fitted sheet, placing your top sheet the right way around, or taking an extra 20 seconds to do proper hospital corners can completely change how polished your bed looks.

It’s also surprisingly practical. The corners stay tucked for longer, the sheet doesn’t work its way loose as easily, and making the bed each morning becomes much quicker because everything stays where it’s meant to.

If you’ve always skipped this step because it looked too complicated, give it a try. Once you’ve done it a couple of times, it becomes second nature, and it’s one of those little habits that makes your bedroom feel calmer and more considered.

Did someone teach you hospital corners growing up, or are you learning them for the first time? I’d love to know.
