A young man sits hunched over his grandmother’s old sewing machine in a shed in Ballarat, Australia. He’s trying to sew through a truck tarp to make a bag strong enough to carry a slab of beer home on his bike. The principles behind the pattern have remained the same – simplicity, a willingness to experiment, original design, and a determination to make the best bag possible for people who know how to live. Made in Melbourne 'Umarelli' range.

Cut and sewn by hand in our Melbourne workshop.
The body is made from a heavy-weight 1000D Nylon Cordura fabric, incredibly strong, tear resistant, and water resistant. The flap mixes that same Cordura with a waxed 500D Regenerated Nylon Ripstop, made from 100% consumer nylon waste. The wax adds water resistance and the fabric develops a natural patina with time.

Available in four sizes: CD1, Barney, Cahoot and Teenie We**ie.

Umarelli: an Italian term from the Bolognese dialect for retired older men who spend their time watching construction sites and roadworks, typically standing with their hands clasped behind their backs and offering unsolicited advice to the workers.
