Two versions of the same forty minute drive.
In one, you're still holding the work call in your head, still carrying whatever went wrong that day.
And you walk through the front door exactly as wound up as when you left the office.

Most men have something.
A run, the gym, walking the dog, mowing the lawn on a Sunday for no real reason.

We tend to talk about these things like they're about fitness or ticking a box. They're not, not really.
The actual value is the disconnect.
Forty five minutes, where nothing is asking anything of you.

The men who never carve that out don't get a break from being needed.
Not for a moment.
That's not resilience, that's just running on empty and calling it normal.

This week is Loneliness Awareness Week in Australia, and the research is worth actually sitting with rather than scrolling past.

More than half of Australian men aged 35 to 50 meet the criteria for loneliness. Nearly double the severity rate of men in their twenties.

The economic cost to the country sits at almost $3 billion a year in flow-on healthcare alone. This isn't a fringe issue.
It's sitting quietly inside more households, friendship groups and work teams than anyone talks about.

This year's campaign theme is "Make Room for Connection"
The idea that connection doesn't happen by accident, it grows in the spaces we deliberately create for each other.
And making room isn't as hard as it sounds.
A text. A call. An invite with no particular reason attached.
