Bird #90: Chestnut-breasted Malkoha.

When spending time in Bali, this is one bird the LYFER team always loves bumping into.

They’re curious, full of attitude and ridiculously agile - bouncing through the branches with a bit of monkey energy.

And the best part? You don’t need to trek deep into the jungle to find one. Chestnut-breasted Malkohas can turn up right around the built-up areas of Ubud, casually looking this good, meanwhile the rest of us are just trying to get to warrung for lunch.

A very good reminder to keep looking up, you never know who's watching you.

Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean birding stops. In fact, birding in winter is magical.

Having the freedom and the chance to step away for a few days to immerse in birds, nature and not much else, is a pretty good reset.

Birding really changes the way you experience a place. You notice so much more. You 'really' slow down and you end up exploring places you probably wouldn’t have otherwise.

And that’s a big part of why so many of us get into birding. Birding really does take you places.
