Price guide:

Standard hem (visible stitching as found

on jeans, PJ bottoms, shorts etc) - $10

Blind hem (such as trousers and most school uniform skirts and dresses) - $15

Dress and skirt hems - $15-$35 (depending on material type and layers)

Curtain hems - $15-$30 per pair (varies due to size and material type)

Garment alterations (bodice, straps, sides, darts, etc) - $10-$50

Other alterations, repairs, patch sewing, clothes steaming – P.O.A., assessed according to materials and labour required

Custom jobs – P.O.A., limited availability due to other commitments

Discounts available for bulk lots such as multiple curtains, uniforms etc

My aim is to provide an affordable alterations and repair service to the local area to ensure well-fitting garments, effective window treatments, and best use of factory-made goods for as long as the material will hold. Due to natural wear and tear, some repairs may come undone just like the original seam from the manufacturer; should this be the case, further repair will be discounted or free. Items can be pinned or pegged to length at home and dropped off. Alternatively, fitting can be done here by prior arrangement at a time to suit you. ABN holder, tax invoices available, current public liability insured, smoke free home, flexible drop-off and pick-up times, one indoor cat who hides a lot and does not join me on sewing adventures. Family friendly – we have children and yours are welcome too!

Uniforms don't always fit straight off the rack!

Skirts, dresses, trousers, shorts: hemmed for $15 per pair

Seam repairs, buttons fastened or replaced, hems secured: $5-$15 per item depending on work required

Flexible fitting, drop off, and collection times; cash or card payment available on collection

Plenty of 3cm-15cm lengths coming off pants this season, as well as elasticated cuff removal from both pants and sleeved tops

You can fold to length and secure with a pin or clothespeg ready to drop off, or book in for a fitting and I'll do it for you

Regular hems: $10 per pair
Blind hems (used on formal wear): $15 per pair

Blind hems are used for trousers, formal skirts and some fashion items for a hem without a visible line of stitches.

Why do they cost more?

To shorten a garment and replicate a blind hem, there's some extra unpicking, measuring, over-edging, folding, pressing, pinning, and finally, stitching.
