The Making of a Warrior returns for cross country season! This time, we went to Ballarat for the 2026 Australian Cross Country Championships, where we followed Tilly Johnson and CHARLEE NEWMAN as they took on one of the toughest races of the season.

For Tilly, the goal was clear. Stay positive, work through the field and chase a top 15 finish. After missing the Championships the year before, she was determined to make the most of her opportunity. Despite a difficult start, Tilly found her rhythm, picked off runners throughout the race and finished 15th overall.

For Charlee, it was about trusting her race plan and staying with the pack. As the course got tougher and the legs got heavier, she focused on how she wanted to feel when she crossed the finish line, knowing she didn’t want to look back wishing she had pushed harder.

Mud, nerves, tough conditions and a whole lot of determination. But as always, the race was about more than what happened on the stopwatch. It was about the people around you, the lessons you took away and finding the strength to keep going when it got hard.
