If your saddle looks like it's sitting high in front, watch this before you change anything.

With the StrideFree® tree, that's by design. The tree supports the gullet plate, the part that gets shaped for width and angle to fit the individual horse, and when the saddle sits statically on the horse's back it will read high in front. The moment the girth is done up and the rider sits in it, the front comes down and the saddle finds its balance. If the horse pushes up through its back during movement, which Karen's horse does, it balances further.

That's dynamic fit. The saddle responds to the horse rather than sitting fixed in one position.

You may have noticed the name change on this page instead of closing the page Leslie has handed it over to me and I thought it was time I introduced myself.
I’m Megan and I am based in the Wimmera/Northern Grampians region, I have been an Equine Myofunctional therapist for the last 10yrs and more recently adding Bit Fitting and Saddle Fitting to my skill set.
I have 2 Horses Nugget and Slash and have been riding in PH StrideFree saddles since 2019, I’m very passionate about these saddles as I have seen 1st hand how they can change a horse and this is why when the opportunity came up to become a Peter Horobin Certified Saddle Fitter and promote this brand I jumped at it and am loving meeting lots of Leslie’s existing clients and new clients to the StrideFree family.

Your position in the saddle starts with what's underneath you.

The seat depth, width, and block placement all determine where your leg lands, how your hip sits, and whether it's working with you or against you.

Peter Horobin Saddlery's dressage saddles, such as the StrideFree Elite Deluxe, have a more open seat than a traditional monoflap, which allows the pelvis to move with the horse rather than being fixed in one position. The twist is designed so the rider doesn't feel too wide through the inner thigh. Knee blocks are available in multiple sizes and can be fixed or velcroed, with the angle adjustable onsite by a PHS Certified Saddle Fitter.

A seat that tips you forward or a block that traps your leg creates tension that travels directly to the horse. The horse reads it as restriction and responds accordingly.

When a saddle comes back to us for repair, we assess the tree, re-flock the panels, replace worn leather, and refit the gullet where needed. If the stitching has gone, we restitch it. If the seat has worn through, we replace it. The goal is always to get it back to the standard it left us in, or as close to it as the leather allows.

We work on all saddles regardless of age. No saddle is too old to be assessed and no repair is too small to be worth doing. If you have a pre-loved PHS saddle that needs attention, the same applies.
