What happens to your old uniforms?

Most uniforms have a life beyond their first wearer.

Through our circularity service, we collect, sort, repair, debrand and recycle uniforms to keep valuable materials in use for longer and out of landfill.

Because what happens after use matters just as much as how it’s made.

♻️ Turning waste into worksite solutions.

We’re proud of our long-term partnership with Stratex, combining circular thinking with local manufacturing to transform discarded materials into valuable, reusable products.

Together, we’ve upcycled recovered gawk mesh (temporary construction banner mesh) from construction sites across Victoria into practical civil infrastructure solutions, including recycled silt socks, Drain Guards, Spill Mats and Spill Kit Liners.

A great example of collaboration creating positive outcomes for people and the planet. 🌱

Interested in these recycled civil infrastructure solutions? Contact Stratex via Stratex to learn more.

Thank you, Sustainability Victoria 💚

This week on 30 June, Sustainability Victoria closed its doors after 20 years of changing what’s possible. Its impact continues long after.

In 2021, SV backed an unproven idea: recycled polyester turned into hi-vis workwear tough enough for construction sites. That pilot became 863 recycled hi-vis vests, a take-back program with 10 industry partners, and an Australian first in circular high-vis apparel.

It sparked our research partnership with Victoria University, turning end-of-life vests into structural concrete, and helped pave the way for our national partnership with Icon Construction, recognised with the 2023 National Social Procurement Trailblazer Award.

None of it started with a purchase order. It started because one organisation was willing to invest in an idea before anyone knew if it would work. That’s what SV did, for us and for hundreds of innovators across Victoria.

To everyone at Sustainability Victoria: thank you. Your legacy is stitched into every vest we make.

We came together as a team to celebrate Refugee Week with a shared potluck lunch, bringing together current and past team members to share food, stories, and connection.

It was a reminder that belonging is built through the everyday moments where people come together.

With a team representing 10 countries and more than 12 languages, we’re proud of the diverse skills, experiences, and stories that make Assembled Threads stronger.

The 2026 Refugee Council of Australia Refugee Week theme, “A Million Stories,” reflects the many journeys that shape our communities. Every story matters, and together they create a stronger, more connected Australia.

A million stories. Countless journeys. One shared community. 🌏

This World Refugee Day, we honour the strength, skills, and stories of refugees who enrich our communities.

At Assembled Threads, we’re proud to play a small part in creating opportunities for people to rebuild, contribute, and continue using the skills they bring with them.

An ICON-ic partnership. Three years in the making.

Together, we’ve shown how procurement can create meaningful social and environmental impact.

✔️ 2,500+ locally made garments produced in Melbourne
✔️ More than 420kg of textile waste diverted from landfill through our recycled-first vest design
✔️ An estimated 1,650+ hours of meaningful employment for people facing barriers to work
✔️ Ongoing investment in vocational training, sustainable employment and Australia’s local garment manufacturing industry

As a social enterprise, every order helps create opportunities, build skills and strengthen local manufacturing.

We’re proud to be national supplier of locally made hi-vis vests and grateful for a partnership that continues to create impact across projects nationwide.

Here’s to the next chapter. 🧵🦺

🎧 Upcycling ASMR 🎧

That old banner? We want it.

That construction mesh? We want it.

That event signage sitting in storage? We definitely want it.

If you’ve got vinyl banners, gawk mesh, building wraps, fence mesh or promotional signage ready for retirement, send it our way.

We’ll help turn yesterday’s campaign into tomorrow’s merch.

♻️ Less landfill. More circularity.

07/05/2026

Our customers just need something that works, they told us:
“We need an easy way to collect used uniforms.”

So we asked a better question:
What if the solution could solve another waste problem too?

We took gawk mesh banners (a material that can’t easily be recycled)
and upcycled them into heavy-duty collection bags ♻️

✔️ Fits perfectly inside our bins
✔️ Reinforced for heavy loads
✔️ Big handles = easy lift
✔️ Drawstring closure = simple + secure

Now used across the country to move large volumes of textiles, these bags are built to be reused again and again. Reducing the need for single-use plastic bags.

A simple bag.
Made from waste.
Used over and over again.

That’s circularity.

Need a better way to collect uniforms?
Let’s talk.

It’s Fashion Revolution Week (22–28 April 2026), Day 2 is about building bridges.

For us, that starts with full transparency.

This is George (Cutting & Sampling), Maca (Operations Manager) and Pla (Production Assistant & QC).

The people behind your PPE.
Your uniforms.
Your workwear.

At a time when businesses are being asked to meet modern slavery obligations, knowing who made your uniforms matters more than ever.

They are part of the team behind the PPE, uniforms and workwear we produce locally with visibility at every stage of the process.

Today marks the start of Fashion Revolution Week (22–28 April 2026) and it also coincides with Earth Day 🌏

We wanted to highlight circularity. Every Assembled Threads safety vest is made using recycled fabrics and trims, and is made locally and ethically.

But what happens at the end of its life?We collect, sort, repair and debrand uniforms for reuse or recycling, keeping textiles out of landfill.

Because what happens after use matters just as much as how it’s made ♻️
