Announcement: Movies at The Regent 🎬
Thanks so much to everyone who has reached out and shared their thoughts, we genuinely appreciate the passion and support for The Regent!
Around two years ago we made the difficult decision to close our regular movie sessions because attendance had dropped significantly, and in some cases was almost non-existent. Unfortunately, this made it unsustainable to continue operating in the traditional 'movie only' format.
That said, we are bringing movies back on a trial basis from December 18th to see whether the community support is there. If we see strong attendance, we’d love to make movies a more regular part of our program again.
At the same time, we’re also focusing more heavily on live performance, which was consistently successful before we closed. Many shows sold out, and it became clear this was an area where The Regent could truly thrive and something that our customers wanted.
Our broader vision for The Regent is to still show movies, but to become a more all encompassing entertainment venue that appeals to more people, not just movie-goers. This means a mix of film, live performance, community events and other experiences that bring the venue to life all year round.
When we launch our new website, you’ll be able to see the variety of events and entertainment we’re planning to bring in. We're confident we'll have something for everyone.
