Do this instead! I flip flop between two techniques depending on my mood, today it’s the fold method!
1. Trim the corners of your bias tape
2. Open up the left side (this can be reversed if you’re left handed)
3. Fold the top down
4. Fold it over to the right
5. Tuck the left side under the top/side for a clean finish
6. Now all that’s left to do is iron and sew shut!

It really is as straight forward as hand basting on the dressform, transferring to a sewing machine, then unpicking your basting stitches. I also like to do my basting stitches in a contrasting thread colour so it’s easier to unpick 🤍

And here’s how you can try it to:
1. With your presser foot up, insert the needle into the fabric and then put again, and pull the bobbin thread up through the fabric so it’s on top of the fabric.
2. Pull about 1m worth of thread out of the machine, both top and bobbin thread.
3. Put your presser foot down, and hold the threads taught, and over your foot.
4. Change your stitch to a zigzag, with short length, I did a 2. Rotate the wheel a few times to start stitching.
5. With your right hand holding the threads, and your left guiding the fabric, simply sew your zig zag stitch over your two threads.
6. After a while, you can pull the thread and it’ll gather the fabric behind the presser foot. Continue this till all your fabric is gathered
