We’ve been very busy with the squeegee. 🌈

A big restock of Adventure Pants has just come back from our makers, and everything is now updated online.

Some are old favourites making a long-awaited return, some are the last of certain cotton or merino colourways, and a few are simply too good not to celebrate in rainbow order.

These are the pieces keeping us moving through the colder months: soft cotton, warm merino, hand screen printed aerial maps, kangaroo grass, dark clouds, tea-tree shrubs, grevilleas, love creeper vines, wattle, and a local moth.

Ten pairs, four slides, one very satisfying colour spectrum.

Available now online and in store.

Temporary Retail & Studio Assistants

1–3 days per week
Northcote

We’re looking for one or two people to join our small team in Northcote for approximately three months while one of our staff members is overseas.

This is primarily a retail and organisational role. We need someone warm and confident with customers, reliable, practical, and able to keep things moving in a busy independent shop and studio.

The role includes customer service, processing sales, packing online orders, receiving and organising stock, keeping the shop looking beautiful, and helping with general day-to-day studio tasks.

There will also be some hands-on studio work, so this role would suit someone who enjoys making, working with their hands, and taking care with practical tasks.

Strong retail experience and excellent organisational skills are essential.

Experience with sewing, textiles, fashion or clothing production would be a wonderful bonus. This is not a screen-printing role, and we are not looking to train someone in printing during this short-term period.

We warmly welcome applications from people of all ages and stages of working life, and particularly encourage experienced and mature-age applicants to apply.

We have around four days a week to cover, including one weekend shift, and are open to either one person taking several regular days or two people sharing the role.

There may also be the possibility of some ongoing casual work afterward, depending on the needs of the business.

Please send your CV, a short introduction and your availability to [email protected].

Applications close Saturday 18 July.

Please feel free to share this with someone who might be a great fit. We’re looking forward to welcoming one or two lovely new people into the Captain Robbo studio.

I was reading this morning about the quiet mindfulness of embroidery, and it made me think about screen printing.

Repetitive, careful work has a way of settling the mind. It’s impossible to rush, and somehow that’s the point.

Every print asks you to be completely present.

I thought I’d share a little moment from the studio this week, with Indigo at the print table. 💙

These much-loved fern leaves are making a return, along with quite a few pieces we’ve quietly been restocking over the past week.

Most of the merino Adventure Pants are now back online too. This will likely be our last restock of merino before the end of winter, so if you’ve been waiting for your size, now’s a good time.

A small collection of cross-stitched treasures. 🌿

Our Crescent Bags are now online, made from beautifully embroidered vintage cotton textiles sourced from Bangladesh. Rich with hand stitching and history, each one is completely unique.

The curved shape sits comfortably across the body, while the generous size makes it perfect for everyday wandering. Water bottle, wallet, phone, sunglasses, lippie… all the essentials.

We currently have these three small edition colour ways available. (Only 15 exist in each)

Somewhere between useful object and textile treasure, these are the sort of bags that gather stories as they travel with you.

Made in small batches. Available now.

They’re back! 🎉

Captain Robbo un**es are finally back in stock.

Made from our studio offcuts, they’re one of our favourite ways to use our beautiful fabrics, they are too good to waste.

We’ve listed four favourite print combinations online, each with the same print front and back. We’ve also updated the cut slightly. The new version has pink binding (the old has mauve), a fuller fit, and even more comfort.

If you can visit our Northcote store, you’ll find even more prints in store, plus a few merino versions not yet photographed. Send us a message if you’d like to know what’s available.

It’s lovely to have them back. 💛

Formally introducing these charcoal merino Adventure Pants, printed with our rust-toned lichen design inspired by the extraordinary landscape of the Bay of Fires in Tasmania. That magical meeting of dark rocks, glowing orange lichen, pale sky, and impossibly aqua water feels almost too beautiful to be real. A reminder that nature is often at its best when it is bold with colour.

It is hard not to be endlessly inspired by Tasmania. I have been sailing back and forth across Bass Strait for the past 15 years for the Deloraine Craft Fair, and every trip leaves another mark somewhere in the work. I am already looking forward to returning again this coming October.

Printed on our lightweight merino blend in deep charcoal with soft warmth and comfortable stretch for the colder months ahead.

This print is perhaps one of the most asked-after designs we have made to date.

Created from a 1955 sailing chart of Western Port Bay, it carries all the old creases, pencil marks, annotations, and signs of use that make it feel less like a print and more like a fragment from another world. There is something about those weathered markings that feels a lot like wisdom. Evidence of hands, journeys, decisions, and time passing across the paper.

This has been reworked by Katy from the original map into an abstracted repeating print, allowing coastlines, navigational markings, and pencil notes to drift across soft linen like pieces of maritime memory.

The Western Port Map (in a Linen Shirt) is finally online after a very long journey to get there, and I could not be happier with how it has come to life.

Gosh, so much to share! These Velvet Cocoon Coats are quickly leaving the building and there are only these 3 left from our shoot just last week. I’m happy simply to be able to share them while they are here, knowing they’ll likely be snapped up quickly and these photographs will quietly disappear from our site with them. So enjoy them here on Instagram, and apologies in advance if you are reading this too late!

They are truly some of the most special winter pieces we have had in the studio for a long time. Oversized, richly embroidered cotton velvet coats with the feeling of wearable heirlooms, somewhere between winter armour and a very beautiful hug. Heavy enough to feel protective, soft enough to disappear into.

Each one is entirely hand worked and lined in cotton, with dramatic suzani embroidery catching the light across the velvet surface. No two are the same.

Available now in Dusty Rose, Midnight, and Obsidian.

Fluoro Peonies 🌿⚡️

These began life as an almost offensively bright fluorescent yellow cotton, originally sourced from workwear fabric. We loved the energy of the colour, but wanted to push it somewhere softer, stranger, and more wearable.

Each pair went through multiple stages of hand printing and spray dyeing in the studio, with every leg individually worked to create the final layered olive tones and textured surface. The peonies slowly emerged back through the colour like ghosts beneath the fabric. These are now online, and I uploaded a few new designs last night. Checkemout!

One of the most labour-intensive pairs of Adventure Pants we have ever made, and absolutely worth the adventure.
