Hidden away in the Mill was a small stash of Nundle Wicker Pencil Roving, combed in Australia from 100% Australian 23 micron Merino wool.
Only 50 kilograms. Once it is gone, it is gone.
And the price? Two kilograms for $80.
Honestly, that feels less like 2026 and more like 2018 prices.
Airy, natural and beautifully receptive to colour, this undyed fibre is full of creative possibility. Spin it into thick, characterful yarn, use it for wet, needle or nuno felting, dye it with acid or natural dyes, or turn it into premium natural stuffing for handcrafted toys, cushions and decorative projects.
A note for spinners: the short staple length makes this one best suited to experienced hands. It rewards a confident maker with a beautifully textured yarn of around 20 ply equivalent.
