Remnant Unicorn | stash bust for a super snuggly scarf. Knit with 8ply and 4 ply held together, this scarf is perfect for using up the Unicorn Tails and remnant nuggets of 4ply/fingering yarn languishing in your stash.

This was an addictive knit. Although the 8ply yarn dominates, the intrigue is created as you eagerly watch each new 4ply yarn transform and create magical pops of colour.

Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback for the cover photo . It was pretty unanimous!

I used to think that knitting scarves was 1: a beginner knit, 2: boring and 3: endless time-consuming knitting.

Not so anymore. I love knitting scarves. They’re quick, they’re meditative, they’re practical and you don’t need to worry about the size or even tension.

Despite the knitting world lapping up flimsy neckties, I prefer something more practical. Let’s be realistic, I’m not wearing neckwear unless it’s cold. For that reason, I prefer a snuggly, cosy scarf like this one. Even better, it used up a whack of my scrap yarn and unicorn tails as part of my smash the stash pledge.

Big thick scarves feel like a soothing cup of hot chocolate on a winter’s day. They are comfort food.

Free pattern incoming.

First day of Winter school holidays: the race is on to complete the duplicate stitch in this clubbie beanie before camp tomorrow.
Can I do it?

When it seems like there’s no winter off-season, a new club beanie is needed. 💙💛

A beautiful Winter’s morning meant I finally got a decent shot of this beanie design that has a minimal target audience of, well … me.

I originally knit this beanie, that mimics the Ocean Grove Surf Lifesaving Club comp cap for Lily back in 2017. I began a second in 2018, and somehow left it languishing until a few years ago waiting for the seaming. Since being completed, it sat finished and forgotten in a drawer until the boy discovered and wore it last season. 💙💛 And that’s what keeps mummas happy.

Probs not gonna release it as a pattern … 😜😂
