New Pattern Alert: Sweet Annie’s Mitts

Finally, between her uni and living in Melbs, working in OG, and the social life, I managed to wrangle five minutes of time to photograph these mitts.

If you knit Annie or Annabel, the stitch pattern will be familiar to you. I do love this daisy stitch! I also used it in my bonnet pattern, Rhodanthe; the first pattern knit from this delectable merino and silk sport weight from Rebecca Robinson | Australian Hand-Dyed Yarn. It is pure magic to knit with.

Is it Socktober yet?

I’ve been bitten by the sock knitting bug after finding this one lonely sock I knit, ummm, … ten years ago. Now it has a partner!

Anyone keen for a preview knit of this toe up anklet pattern? It’s probably about a week away from being ready.

It might be AFL Grand Final day here in Australia but I want to give a shout out to this new beanie pattern, Clubbie Beanie, that I released on Ravelry earlier this week.

It’s a free pattern.

Clubble Beanie is a 4 ply/fingering weight beanie with a combo of stranded colourwork and duplicate stitch. The little circles on the beanie are my surf club’s comp cap, and the pattern includes a template and link for you to substitute with your own surf club colours, no matter where in the world you are. There’s even a chart included for the classic red and yellow lifesaving colour patrol cap. You can be as creative as you like with the circle templates - or even knit the beanie plain.

This pattern is free to recognise the dedication of surf lifesaving volunteers who keep our beaches safe. In lieu of payment, consider donating to your local surf lifesaving club.

Competitive surf lifesavers arguably train harder than many professional sportspeople. As an aside, to be able to compete, from the age of 13 surf lifesavers must complete significant volunteer hours patrolling the beach every Summer.

Imagine if to be able to compete in AFL or basketball or athletics every player from 13 upwards had to complete volunteer hours connected to emergency response.

Surf lifesavers really are the true sporting heroes.

September seems like a cardie month.
I’ve been thinking a lot about this pattern (Penelope) and how I’d really like an adult version but maybe in a lighter weight at a looser tension. It would pair well with dresses and wide leg pants.

A different version of my Kindling Bkanket pattern. This one’s knit with some Bendigo Woollen Mills Stellar 12ply that came from the back room many years ago. I knit this on 6 mm needles and made the logs all the same size. This is a pram size.

Some daily glimmers as the seasons slowly transition. Where I live in Australia, the seasons are shifting from Guling (orchid season) to Poornet (tadpole season). I particularly love the changing light and increased warmth in the sun. ☀️

Just in time for the end of winter; a snuggly 12 ply Smash the Stash knit.

My random yarn spinner selected Patons Jet, so i made the viral Ranunculus. I worked extra length in both the sleeves and body and knit with 7mm needles for a super over-sized fit. Snuggly and warm and very pink!

Have you knit this? I have some thoughts …

Looking for a Sunday cast on?

This is the blanket that emptied my scrap 8ply basket using up 1550g of various yarns to produce a throw size blanket for my couch.
