Edge of the Forest

Edge of the Forest Toys made by hand for play and comfort Bunnies have a favourite place and as a consequence, foxes like to chase them. I am blessed

Here on the Edge of the Forest life is a lot slower than it is in most places which gives me the chance to appreciate the life around me. I am surrounded by many beautiful creatures, kangaroos hop up and down the street every morning and night and often hang out in the garden at the front of the house. My favourite though would have to be the birdlife, particularly the powerful owl. This amazing b

ird is stunning, very large and very active in these parts, often seen late at night lingering around our property. Being lucky enough to get a glimpse of one of these very special birds makes me feel extraordinarily blessed to be able to share my home with them. As well as the wildlife I love the flora that we find both on the edge and inside the forest. We are home to many different species of fungi, all of which are amazing to capture in their natural environment. And the amazing native flowers and trees are just as spectacular and create the most peaceful, soul soothing scent that fills my home and my life. The weather is another part of my inspiration, it is very cold here and rains a LOT. We are lucky enough to have an abundance of water, with reservoirs fed by natural springs and a lot of rain. It also snows here in winter and we get some pretty severe frosts so often when I wake in the morning everything outside is white and frozen. Autumn is stunning, with the leaves changing colour and falling to create masses of dry leaves to run and play in and Spring brings the most amazing display of colour with clear blue skies, gentle breezes and an abundance of butterflies. I love it here on the edge of the forest, it is a beautiful and magical place to live and I would really like to share that with you all, so that you may take a small piece of the stillness that it brings to the heart and soul.

Hard to believe that is has been a whole year since I took these photos, so much has happened since then. This year we are safe, the air is clear and there are people everywhere in town and surrounds, spending money and supporting our region. It is vibrant and full of life again and I am so grateful for it. The support we are getting now is wonderful and will get our businesses out of the worst slump they’ve ever experienced but if it weren’t for them we would be lost. As a region we feel forgotten, left behind, abandoned by government and the agencies who promised help. Mental health in this region is at its worst and there are people still living in makeshift accommodation on burnt out properties a year later. The bushfire fund promised by the federal government has not materialised and we are all still suffering from the effects of a period we would love to forget. Throw a year of closed borders, lockdowns and major loss of incomes and you have a very impacted region. We have been lucky enough to escape the health effects of COVID but the financial ones have really impacted us all.

For those that have continued to support our region, and all fire affected regions, I thank you. It is a long road back from what we experienced and we are getting there slowly and on the face of it we are almost there, but just a little below the surface is a pain that will linger forever. So please remember this in months and years ahead, more than anything else we need you, your support, your presence, your spending for without you we would not have come this far xox

A sneak peak of some of the goodness I’ve been dreaming up and soon to release over at exciting is an absolute understatement! I’m also exhausted and scared out of my brain about launching a new business during such uncertain times but you don’t know unless you try, right? I’d love to have you support me in my new venture, just a follow/like/comment is all it takes to help.

Thank you all so very much for your support over the last few weeks, it’s means more than you could possibly know. And to all those who touched base, sent messages and love I am eternally grateful. My husband is doing much better but is still not right so the store will remain closed for the time being. All outstanding orders were finalised today but I missed the post office so they will be sent on Monday, sorry.
In other news I’ve been working for the last little while on something a bit different and I hope you will come and follow me on this journey. I have decided to take the earrings that I love making and turn it into a business all of its own. So if you’ve enjoyed them and want to see more you will need to head over to and follow to see more. There are many new designs and I have branches out with things like hair clips, key rings and brooches to name a few. I would love to see you over there, hopefully I will be able to keep up with both but we’ll just have to wait and see 🌳

****TEMPORARY CLOSURE****
What a week, another from the book of “2020 can eat my shorts”!!! I’m not sure how much more I can take of the challenges that keep getting thrown my way but really, surely I’ve had enough to deal with 🤔 My husband suffered another seizure on Monday night after a week of not feeling great, his first in two years and one that we were assured he wouldn’t have. I was alone with him when it happened, in the dead of night not knowing what was happening, I thought I was losing him. I was so scared and to be honest I’m not sure that fear will ever go away. So our new normal is yet to be determined and our lives are currently a whole lot crazier, mine especially.
As a result of this I am closing the website and all new orders. I’m not sure how long it will be until I reopen but I need some time to reassess what my capacity is before I commit again. I have this awful fear of disappointing others and I need to get on top of things before I open up again. I have a bunch of orders still waiting to go to the post office and I’m sorry that they haven’t gone yet, they will be completed by the end of the weekend.
Can I finish by offering some advice, something that I’ve followed myself and it’s really helped me cope over the last few days. Never leave things unsaid, never go to bed angry, never put off that which you can do today because you really don’t know when your time is up. We live our lives by this mantra and it has helped me this week in more ways than one. Hold your family close and live every moment xox 🌳

Today would have been my niece Haylee’s 18th birthday but instead of celebrating we are quiet in our sadness and the heartbreak that we felt that day. She lost her darling baby at full term, born still and silent. I wish I could be there with my sister today to hold her close, to try to help her through another lost milestone but I am a entire state away. I admire the strength that she displays each and every day, her courage in the face of absolute tragedy has given me hope that such absolute heartache can be overcome. I am so proud of her and her attitude towards life, her growth in the face of adversity and her undeniable love for those closest to her. She embraces life with a tenacity that would have made her daughter so very proud.
Happy 18th Birthday Haylee, I will never forget your face and the impression that your very short existence has left on our hearts 💕
