Since the launch of our collection points at IGO Limited operations in April, we’ve already diverted 778kg of workwear from landfill, avoiding 1.5T of greenhouse gas emissions 🌱

This progress wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of site champions like Karen from IGO Ltd and Raj from Cater Care, who lead Second Life Workwear at IGO’s Nova Operation. Through a collaborative consultation process, we worked closely with the Nova team to design a long-term collection system tailored to meet the unique needs of their remote site. These systems are not only practical but also fully integrated into IGO’s company culture.

We’re thrilled to announce our partnership with IGO Limited to revolutionise uniform waste management in the resources industry!

Together, we’re reducing textile waste across IGO’s operations by collecting and redistributing unwanted workwear across our Circular Network to avenues that reuse, repurpose, and recycle these textiles. Partnerships like this drive us toward our vision of a circular future, keeping valuable materials in use and out of landfills.

Did you know that 14% of what charities receive in donations each year is sent to landfill?! This is mainly due to poor quality donations and illegal dumping. If you are looking to give your pre-loved clothes a second life... Amazing! Here’s a simple checklist to follow before you make your donations to help lighten the load on charities:

✔️ CHECK for damage, stains and broken zippers/buttons
✔️ ASK yourself if you would give it to a friend
✔️ WASH everything before donating, so it’s fresh for its next home
✔️ DONATE during opening hours... Don’t dump it! 🌍♻️

And for that clothing that is not in a condition to be worn again... could you repurpose or recycle it instead of sending it to landfill? offer a textile recycling service for the public and take on unwearables, recycling them into new products!

Let’s make landfill the last resort for our clothes!

We had never considered the connection between religion and textile waste, but one of the key topics in the Year 8 religion course at is Stewardship. Students are encouraged to reflect on how we can be better stewards of our planet to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

We were fortunate to have our CIRCLD Workshops included as part of their course. During these workshops, we explored the concept of stewardship through the lens of clothing, equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to reduce their wardrobe’s impact on the planet.

The environmental coordinator at the school even organized a clothes swap following the workshops, which was a huge success! Our partner, Good Sammy, collected what was left over from the swap, ensuring that 80kg of clothing would find another home. How awesome is that!

Thanks for being a part of a CIRCLD Future, ! 🌍✨

A Clothing Conscious Future is Within Reach!

Here are the 4 key actions that you can take to help build a clothing conscious future:

1️⃣ Wearing what we own more
2️⃣ Caring for our clothes
3️⃣ Gifting, Reselling, Repurposing and Recycling
4️⃣ Shopping Less and Shopping Consciously

While systemic change is still needed to tackle the issue of textile waste, these are actions that we, as consumers of clothing can control. We can influence how long it takes for a garment to reach it’s “end of life”, just by making a few small changes.

This month, we’ll be sharing tools that will help you take action in these areas to reduce the impact of your wardrobes. Stay tuned! 💚

What’s the deal with textile waste in Australia?

Australians are now the largest consumers of clothing per capita, buying 56 new items on average each year, surpassing the USA 😱

With great consumption comes great disposal: 93% of textiles people buy are disposed of, leading to 227,000 tonnes of clothing ending up in landfills every year.

CIRCLD is here to help you shake things up and change these stats for the better. Small changes by many people can make a huge impact. Choose quality over quantity, explore other options before buying new, donate or recycle unwanted clothes, or support sustainable brands. Let’s rethink our fashion habits and flip the script on textile waste!

🌟 We're thrilled to announce that Good Sammy Enterprises will be a key partner for our WasteSorted WA Textile Waste Education Campaign this year! 🎉

As a key partner, Good Sammy will be spearheading clothing donation drives at the high schools we visit, and the Mend & Sip workshop will be held at their head quarters in Canning Vale 🙌👕

This partnership means that as well as saving clothing from landfill, the people donating will be contributing to creating employment opportunities for Western Australians with disability.

🙌 We're so excited to have them on board! 💚

Empower change through education! 🌟 Taking the first step towards reducing our impact on the Earth starts with knowledge.

Clothing is worn by everyone, every day. So we all have the power to make a positive impact with the choices we make around our clothing.

Our Community Workshops delve into the issue of textile waste and empower people with the knowledge and tools to avoid and reduce it.

Teaming up with local councils, brands, and everyone in between, we bring these transformative workshops straight to the heart of the community! 💚💫 Reach out to learn more and join the movement!

A big shout out goes to the City of Swan for hosting us and all of the work they do to drive change in this space!

🌟✨ Drumroll, please! We're so excited to announce that Fibre Economy has been selected as a recipient of a WasteSorted WA Community Education Waste Reduction Grant! 🏆🌍🌱

Time and time again we hear from the community that textile waste education needs to be delivered to the younger generation. So we're finally doing it! Our project will see us entering 3 high schools in WA, to educate students on the impact of textile waste and how to become GREAT Sorts when it comes to clothing. Along with this, we'll be holding a Mend & Sip Workshop for the community later in the year!

So... We are on the lookout for high schools that want to participate in shaping a more clothing conscious future! And we want to hear from you - Do you have a school in mind that could benefit from our project? Are you a teacher who is passionate about sustainability and wants to see education like this delivered at your school?

Reach out to us to learn more and let's keep leading the charge to making landfill the last resort! 🌍🌟♻️
