The Opal Engagement Ring Trend; Yay or Nay???💍
Gets me thinking 🤔

Here's my honest thoughts....and this isnt targeted toward another Jeweller or client!!!
My opinion is solely based on my experience and education.
Yes, some people do successfully have Opal Engagement Rings...but it requires you to be very conscientious throughout your day.

I would'nt be doing my job if I didnt inform you of all the pros and cons, so you can make an informed decision for yourself! I can also tell you about the clients I have 'harped at', and didnt believe me or understand....and guess what happened?

I can almost GAURANTEE you will be taking it back to a Jeweller for repolishing at the very least, and better yet....replacement of the Opal 🙄

There is a reason why historically Diamonds and Sapphires have been used for Engagment Rings and continue to be a great choice....the durability!💪

Its not just Opals Im seeing in Engagement Rings either 🫣👀

Jewellers see this stuff all the time 🤨
It makes me so mad for my clients!😡
You spend you hard earned money on Jewellery, that then holds sentimental meaning...and this happens 🙄
I hate being the one to tell you the truth....I hate it! Watching your faces; overcome with disappointment & worry.....but I do LOVE watching your faces when we remodel those pieces and create something that will last a lifetime 💜
I love watching you tell me; "Im going to cry..." because your so happy and all those feelings and memories that the piece held come rushing back 🥰

Another remodel 👌
We took these 2 sentimental 18ct Yellow Gold Rings and made this!
We were able to use the remaining small Diamonds in one of the rings, add a couple extra and supplied a new Lab Grown Diamond as the centrepiece.

The result is an elegant, classic design with so much meaning.....the best bit is she has a story to eventually be passed on to the next generation 🙌💜

This stunner came in for some maintenance and resizing 🤗
The Engagement Ring + Wedder + Eternity needed to be resized down....we checked over all the small Diamonds after resizing and retipped the main stone claws.

Sometimes we get SUPER lucky and we can make a small adjustment with big impact 🙏

This Platinum Engagement Ring was'nt custom made, and this is generally the disadvantage......a Diamond that is sitting WAY TOO HIGH 🤨
She loved the design, but hated the height....in this instance we were able to simply take out the Diamond and lower the height (99% of the time its never this straight forward).

Check out the before and after; specifically the 'air' under the Culet (point of the Diamond) 😱. We dropped it a whole 1mm....trust me, in the jewellery world, thats A LOT!

Another custom for a longterm client....this time from NSW 🤗

Bec sent me some pictures of chains from 'Google' as inspiration, along with a brief. I immediately 'picked up what she was putting down' 🙌
She trusted me to do; 'my thing' 💃🏼...and I got to work playing around with different link styles and dimensions.

This is one of those really fun jobs where I completely ignore material cost (not to my favour)....because getting it PERFECT is so much more important!

This is the magic when a client has complete faith in you, and the outcome is a 'show stopper' that she completely loves. Thanks again Bec for the opportunity 💜🙏 it PERFECT is so much more important!

Transformation Tuesday🙌
Just a little remodel for a client in Victoria 🙋🏼‍♀️
I've never met Toni, but she found my page and has purchased a couple of pieces from me 💜

Toni was gifted these 2 Sapphire Rings for her 21st some time ago, and didnt wear them.
With great sentimental value; I designed this pendant, and made it using her 14ct Yellow Gold, Sapphires and small Diamonds from the original rings.
