I went away for two weeks.
A girls’ trip, a bit of family time, a bit of reconnecting with people I love… but also, if I’m honest, a little bit of reconnecting with myself.
And I feel like sometimes as mums, we forget how important that is.
Not because we don’t love our kids.
Not because we don’t miss them like crazy.
But because there was a woman there before we became “Mum” and she still needs a little bit of space too.
Space to laugh.
To sleep.
To have adult conversations.
To not be thinking about snacks, school bags, bedtime, routines and all the little things that are constantly running in our heads.
And the funny thing is… life at home kept going.
Dad stepped up.
The girls had this beautiful time with him.
They created their own little rhythm.
And I realised that sometimes we need to trust that things won’t fall apart just because we’re not there controlling every little detail.
Maybe that’s the lesson.
Sometimes stepping away isn’t selfish.
Sometimes it gives everyone a chance to grow.
The kids learn that Mum can go and always come back.
Dad gets to connect in his own way.
And Mum gets to come home feeling a little bit more like herself again.
And honestly, I think that makes us better mums. đź’•
