Meet Kim & Shaz, the mother-daughter duo behind Gunes Swim.
We started Gunes in 2020, as one of the original brands creating recycled nylon bags before they became what you see everywhere today. We've watched many brands recreate what we started, but we've always stayed true to ourselves - creating, designing and doing what we love together as a mother and daughter.
This collection has been months in the making. I may have slightly lost my mind along the way - I was having nightmares about stripes, started wearing stripes every day and, yes, I'm STILL wearing them.
But my favourite part of this collection is Mum. She creates our crochet from scratch, and the day before our campaign she asked, "Do we need anything else?" probably expecting me to say a headband.
I said, "Mum, we need a one-piece."
And she made it. IN ONE DAY. This morning I watched her put in the final stitch before saying, "Mum, we've gotta go!"
i'm so proud of her. I cherish her every day, and Gunes simply wouldn't be Gunes without her. We really are a team.
Then, to top it all off, we arrived at today's shoot and discovered we'd accidentally chosen a n**e beach.
Let's just say there were a LOT more wi***es and doodles around than expected. Definitely not on the mood board.
Months of work, endless stripes, Mum's last-minute crochet magic and one VERY unexpected campaign location.
We can't wait to finally show you what we've created.
