After many long and wonderful years dressing the women of Maitland and the Hunter Valley, the time has come for me to share some heartfelt news.
Sue’s Clothing will be closing its doors on the 31 March 2026. This decision hasn’t come easily or lightly. The store has been part of my life for 13 years and some 20 odd years by its original owner, Sue. I’m incredibly proud of the history we’ve shared, the special occasions, the milestones and the moments when the perfect dress made someone feel truly amazing.
It’s time to hang up my shingle and step into the next Chapter of my life - with gratitude, memories I’ll treasure forever and deep appreciation for every costumer who has supported, encouraged and believed in this small store over the many years.
Through decades of dedication, we’ve had the honour of building lasting relationship, witnessing generations of customers walk through our doors and serving our wonderful city, Maitland, and in particular Rutherford.
Special thanks go out to my wonderful staff who have served me well over the reign of my ownership and in particular Robyn Edwards, who without her help, I could not have continued in business as long as I have. Also, special mention to my daughter, Jenny, who has been the face of my social media platforms - beautifully showcasing my apparel helping to attract and inspire customers to visit my store. I will always be grateful and indebted to Jen, Robyn and my other beautiful staff whom I have worked closely with over the years.
Thank you to Sue Burrows who started the business back in the 1990’s. Sue used her initiative to start up a small business that served the customers well and grew from one store to four.
When she retired in 2013, there was only one shop front left and that was Rutherford, which was and has been a great success story.
Sincere thanks for being part of our story and for the memories and friendships that have been formed and the legacy that remains.
More information to follow.
With love and sincere gratitude,
Dawn Martin
