Felicity had a work Christmas party to go to and it had “Gold” as the theme.

Her mum, Margaret, made this dress for her using - leftover lamé bits from swing dancing
- a green fabric off cut from the $2 rack at East Coast Fabrics
- lining fabric from her stash

Then Felicity borrowed the handbag from a friend.

“Felicity was delighted to get all glammed up on a shoestring.” (Margaret)

This is a perfect example of reusing things that you already have to make something new and it proves that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to look fabulous!

Nice work Margaret and Felicity!

An interesting challenge - to turn a canvas into a wearable garment.

Some time ago our own Dash Enfield used the Restitch studio to do the same thing. He had painted a canvas that he converted into a coat. Our machines struggled somewhat with the combination of acrylic paint and canvas but he succeeded in the end.

That coat is currently on display at GOMA, as part of the Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art. It's on now until 6th August 2023.

We sent these 5 bags to two remote Op Shops in the Northern Territory today.

We’ll have another 5 to send soon. It’s a great initiative and I’m pleased to have heard about the Remote Op Shops Project.

Cutting our consumption of textiles is key to stopping the waste.

Cutting our consumption of textiles is key to stopping the waste.

True sustainability can't happen until we stop overconsuming, and fast.

We have been wired to want more, Australians buy 14.8kg of clothing every year - equating to 56 new items per person, per year!

This makes Australia one of the highest textile consumers in the world.

Restitch studio is very happy to support Formally Ever After.

Yesterday we attended the Local Legends 2023 Awards ceremony where my daughter Jaylee and partner Athol both recieved awards for the amazing work they do helping with Formally Ever After 🧡
The Local Legends Awards is done annually here In Logan to showcase the incredible selfless humans doing what they can to be part of the best community 🧡
Jaylee is 12 years old and already has been helping me with Formally Ever After. Some of the things she does is sorting donations , colour co ordinating items , helping to pick dresses for some students , modelling dresses . Jaylee also worked with me to purchase almost $600 of toys for a local Xmas appeal for kids in hospital & using some of the money of her own money .
Jaylee has been involved in breakfast club at her primary school and also has collected donations of Formal wear from teachers at her primary school .
Jaylee says when she grows up she wants to work at Formally Ever After
Jaylee is my absolute hero as she battles anxiety yet is working at ways to keep giving to her community, the awards were a huge thing for her but she went up and accepted her award like an absolute little legend 🧡👏🧡

Athol is my FEA rock , he helps me with Fornally Ever After and I am beyond grateful that I met a man who loves the program as much as I do ! Athol helps Me sort donations , tags dresses and suits , collects donations .
Athol happily accepts our date nights are downstairs working through the donations or re sorting racks. The amount of dates we've had amongst sequins, glitter , gowns ,coat-hangers and he still smiles and loves what we do here .
Athol 100 % deserves this Local Legend award for all the hard work he does to ease my workload and he never complains
There's many a time I hear from deep in the dresses " ohhh wow this is beautiful " or " this material is so nice " .
Athol is one of the Kindest men I've ever met and everyone that knows him says the same. He's a gentle giant with a big heart 🧡🧡

Thank you to both Jaylee and Athol ,you two help to make Formally Ever After amazing through your kindness and passion to help others 🧡🧡
