I believe the best outfits tell a story, and the best stories are layered and take you on a journey.
The Story ...
I bought these boots in New York, maybe 2007, when I was following my dance dream with a friend. Experiencing classes that weren't as profuse in Australia. I had a dream of finding red cowboy boots in New York ... and I found them. A number of sizes too big, but nothing thick socks couldn't fix. I cherish them to this day.
The black cut away skirt came from an op shop, on the way to the Yarragon Fashion Festival with π¦ππ π¬π¦π’ππ‘π¦ππ€ππ¬ | πππ‘π’πππ₯ π¬π₯π¨π° πππ¬π‘π’π¨π§. A last minute addition to my outfit, which I felt brought it to life.
Over the top I layered it with my Hiding Hares Skirt. Wearing something you have made, and made with intention, makes the act of wearing more conscious and respected, knowing the time, effort and care that has been put into it. The extra layers underneath gave her some lovely fullness and good contrast.
I dug out another of my own pieces, from an age ago, when I had my first brand, 'Faebar'. A white mesh tank top with white cotton patches attached. It is over 20 years old.
The grey cropped jacket, I bought many years ago at a fashion sale Very Special Kids used to hold. They sold brands donated seconds and unwanted styles to raise money for all those beautiful children needing help. A much better way to move on unwanted items than burning them. Mum bought a matching one too π₯°
Finishing off the outfit with a tie I had collected many years ago when I was designing a shirt with an inbuilt tie (that was fun) and I collected a bunch of old second hand ties. Dad swears it is his tie and if it isn't he said he had one just like it. I'll have to have a search and see if I can find it. Thanks again Michael Thomas | UPSTYLE YOUR LIFE for the tie inspo β€οΈ
So that's my outfits story, and by telling it, you have learnt a little of my history.
I would love to hear your outfit stories. Share a pic, and tell me the story. I'd love to learn some interesting things I might otherwise never know. π€π©Άπ€β€οΈ
Have a wonderful Wednesday.
