Somewhere along the line, men got handed a rule: stick to navy, grey and black. Anything else is "too much." Safe is professional. Colour is a risk.

It was always a lie.

Look at this runway. Burgundy. Blue. Tan. Not one of these men looks less serious for wearing colour they look more deliberate, more confident, more like someone worth remembering. The "rule" was never about taste. It was about playing it safe, and safe is just another word for forgettable.

Here's the part that actually matters, colour, chosen properly, is strategy. A shade that works with your skin tone makes you look healthier, sharper, more awake. The wrong grey can wash you out completely. Warm skin comes alive in burgundy, tan, olive. Cooler skin owns blue and charcoal. It's not about being loud it's about wearing the colour that was built for you instead of the one you were told was "safe."

The men who get remembered in a room aren't the ones in the same navy as everyone else.

Ask most men what a suit is, and they'll describe the same thing. Navy or grey, off a rack, worn twice a year, mildly uncomfortable. A uniform they endure.

Watch this and tell me that's all a suit can be.

Burgundy. Deep navy with a satin lapel. Tan. Black worn open at the collar. Every one of these is a suit and not one of them is the beige compromise most men have settled for. That's the thing nobody tells you, off-the-rack doesn't sell you a suit - it sells you the safest possible version of one. The narrow middle. The option least likely to be remembered.

A suit is meant to be a decision, not a default. The colour says something. The cut says something. The fabric says something. When you get to choose all three, instead of taking whatever fit closest on the rack, the suit stops being something you wear and becomes something you use.

Olive green is the power colour nobody talks about and honestly, I don't know why.

Everyone reaches for black, navy, camel. Meanwhile olive quietly does the thing all of them are trying to do. It flatters almost every skin tone, it reads expensive without trying, and it's warm enough to soften you and deep enough to command a room. It's the colour equivalent of the woman who doesn't raise her voice and still gets listened to.

And here's my favourite part of this look the lace top under the three-piece. People think you have to pick, soft OR sharp. Feminine OR powerful. You don't. The waistcoat gives you structure and authority, the lace keeps it unmistakably you. Together they say "I did this on purpose" which is the most powerful thing an outfit can say.

Add a red earring, a burgundy heel, and suddenly it's not a suit you're hiding in. It's a suit that's working for you.

Stop saving colour for "someday." Someday is today.

Most grooms get married at 3pm in a garden wearing a suit built for a 7pm ballroom. It's the most common mistake we fix.

A dark suit in full sun works against you. It absorbs heat, it photographs heavy, and it fights the soft, light palette of a daytime wedding instead of belonging to it. This sand three-piece does the opposite. It catches the warmth of the day. It sits inside the photos instead of punching a hole in them. Next to greenery, next to a bride in ivory, it looks like it was always meant to be there — because it was.

The waistcoat isn't decoration either. A three-piece holds its shape all day — through the ceremony, the speeches, the jacket-off dancefloor hours — so the groom looks intentional in every frame, not just the posed ones.

Somewhere along the way, women were handed a rule: if you want to be taken seriously, wear navy, grey or black. Disappear into neutral. Don't draw the eye.

I'd like to formally retire that rule.

This butter-yellow three-piece doesn't whisper. It doesn't apologise. And it's every bit as sharp, structured and serious as any charcoal suit in the room the tailoring is identical. The only thing that changed is the colour, and the colour is exactly the point.

Here's what nobody tells you, a bold colour, cut precisely to your body, reads as confidence. A bold colour in a cheap, ill-fitting cut reads as costume. The difference isn't the yellow. It's the tailoring underneath it. When the structure is impeccable, colour stops being a risk and becomes a signature.

The women who get remembered in a room aren't the ones who blended in. They're the ones who wore the thing everyone else was too afraid to.

Every groom thinks the choice is which black tux to hire. It isn't.

Here's what black tux gets wrong: in photos, pure black collapses into a flat shape. You lose the lapel, you lose the structure, you lose every detail your tailor worked on. Navy does the opposite. It catches light. It holds depth. It photographs like a tuxedo instead of a silhouette.
