We spend A LOT of time at skateparks 😂 Between skating ourselves and basically raising our kids at them, there are a few things we see over & over again that either scare the s**t out of me or just aren’t cool.

Most of these really come down to two things: safety & respect.

Skateparks can look like playgrounds when you’re new to them but they’re not. People are moving FAST, everyone has a line they’re following and sometimes there is literally no way to stop when someone suddenly cuts in front of you.

And then there’s the helmet thing. I know people have different opinions on helmets but this is one I’ll never budge on with kids. I’ve seen firsthand what a traumatic brain injury can do. I’ve watched my brother go through brain rehab and watched people relearning how to do things most of us don’t even think twice about. A helmet isn’t uncool. Brain injuries are serious.

But just as importantly, skateparks should be places where people WANT to learn.

You don’t need to be good. You don’t need the coolest board. You don’t need to know all the unwritten rules before you arrive. You just need to be willing to learn them & give everyone else the same respect you’d want given to you.

Teach the little groms the etiquette. Pick up your s**t. Wear the brain bucket. Wait your turn. Encourage the beginner who’s been trying the same trick for an hour.

And just don’t be an a***e 😂🤙🏼
