Does this image look familiar? After 40 years in the baby, kids and nursery industry, I’ve seen a lot — stores opening, stores closing, big names coming and going. However nothing compares to what I’m seeing out there now.

This is honestly the saddest time I’ve experienced in my career.I’ve watched major chains close over the years… Babies Galore, My Baby Warehouse and many more. But today, it’s the small independent stores shutting their doors. The ones run by everyday people trying to make a living for their families. As an agent who has worked alongside these stores for decades, they become more than accounts. The owners become friends. Real relationships grow. It’s never been about the size or the quantity of orders — it’s always been bigger than that to me.

We hear “support small business” everywhere… but do people actually walk their talk, or is it just a social media slogan? I make sure I support my local strip of stores, I buy from the local butcher etc, not just post about it as I want them to survive.

To all my customers: you’re doing an incredible job. Thank you for showing up, thank you for fighting through tough times, and thank you for your on going support.
