Hotel CBD is a multi-level heritage pub Sydney's city centre, located on the corner of King and York Streets. It was built in 1892.

What is most curious about this building is that before it became Hotel CBD, it was home to one of the many clothing manufacturers dotted around the city. In its early days, it was leased to the Murray Brothers, who were tweed and clothing manufacturers. A lot has changed in more than century!

Each week, we share a photo capturing a small part of the Australian way of life - spanning nature and city, and the contrast between modern living and deep cultural roots. It serves as a reflection of Australia’s character, aligned with Buckle’s heritage of local craftsmanship.

Australian Craft and Creativity:
📍 Buckle Workshop, St Peters, NSW

While our braces are proudly manufactured in Australia, the high-quality elastic we use is sourced from Belgium, where craftsmanship in woven elastics has a long-standing reputation. In fact, we’ve worked with the same supplier since the 1940s, a partnership built on consistency, trust, and enduring quality.

This carefully selected elastic is what gives our braces their lasting performance. It maintains its strength and elasticity over time, without becoming weak or losing shape with wear. Just as importantly, it won’t turn white or distort its pattern when stretched—ensuring they look as good as they perform, every time they’re worn.

Australia has a fashion waste problem and it’s growing fast.

Every year, more than 200,000 tonnes of clothing end up in landfill. That’s the equivalent of dumping almost four Sydney Harbour Bridges worth of textiles straight into the ground.

We’re buying more than ever: around 56 new items per person each year, and wearing them less.

Fast fashion has turned clothing (and accessories) into something disposable. Cheap, trend-driven and designed to be replaced.

Other countries are starting to push back. France has introduced reforms targeting ultra-fast fashion, proposing restrictions on advertising and penalties for brands that promote over consumption.

So where does that leave us?

It’s not about buying nothing. It’s about buying better.

👜Choose pieces that last.
🔨Repair what you already own.
♻️Recycle and donate thoughtfully.
🛟Repurpose before you throw away.

Because every item we keep in use is one less item in landfill.

We are dreaming of summer... Sydney Harbour sits as a backdrop of quiet confidence - water, skyline and light shifting in constant conversation. Our Australian made Buckle braces add a refined, understated detail, balancing classic tailoring with a modern, cosmopolitan ease.

A lot of companies say they’re “Australian made”, but are they really showing you what that means?

Because a label is easy to print. Transparency is harder.

If a brand is genuinely producing in Australia, there should be a clear story behind it. Not just a claim on a website, but evidence of the people, the place and the process.

So if you’re not seeing photos of the production facility, the makers or how things are actually produced, it’s worth asking a simple question:

🙋‍♀️Why?

At Buckle, we believe if something is truly made here, it shouldn’t need to hide behind words alone.

The White Wedding Edit. There’s something undeniably striking about white wedding accessories. It is clean, refined, and effortlessly elegant in their simplicity. They carry a sense of clarity and purity that feels both timeless and modern, letting the finer details of craftsmanship take centre stage.

In winter, that feeling becomes even more pronounced. Against softer light and cooler tones, white accents feel sharper and more considered, bringing a quiet contrast that elevates the entire look.

Country of origin is one of the simplest pieces of information a product can carry, but also one of the most misunderstood.

Right now, disclosure rules in Australia vary depending on the product. Food must show origin clearly, but many other goods, including clothing and accessories, are not held to the same standard. That means “Australian made,” “designed in Australia,” or no origin statement at all can sit side by side on a shelf with very different meanings.

So the question is worth asking: should country of origin labelling be stronger and more consistent across all products?

Because when information is unclear, consumers are left to interpret it themselves. And interpretation often fills the gap where transparency should be.

We believe clarity builds trust. If something is made here, it should be easy to see. If it isn’t, that should be clear too.

Better information leads to better decisions.

Full grain leather is the highest quality cut of leather, left untouched to preserve its natural grain, strength, and character. Rather than deteriorating, it evolves—developing a deep, unique patina that reflects the life it’s lived and the moments it’s been part of.

This is leather designed for longevity, not passing trends. A belt that sits outside seasonal fashion and becomes something permanent in your wardrobe: classic, reliable, and enduring.

Every full grain belt in the Buckle range is backed by our 5-year warranty, because craftsmanship this honest is built to last.

This might be the most-used item in my wardrobe right now 🫰🏼

I wear it running.
I wear it to grab coffee.
I take it overseas.
I even wear it on special occasions.

Any guesses before the last slide? 👀

Our Australian-made braces are built better. Why? Because every detail matters.

Our braces are proudly made in Australia using premium Belgian elastic, selected for its exceptional strength, resilience, and long-term performance. Unlike lower-grade elastics, it holds its tension and structure over time, so even with regular wear it won’t lose its shape or develop that worn, “bubbled” or uneven finish you often see in cheaper alternatives.

To make them even more enduring, we also offer a **free clip replacement service for the life of your braces**, ensuring they’re designed to be worn, relied on, and enjoyed for years—not replaced.

This is everyday craftsmanship, done properly.
