A Different Kind of Wrapping This Christmas

This Christmas I decided to do something a little different. Instead of buying rolls of wrapping paper, I used the packaging from my business deliveries to wrap gifts for the kids, family, and extended family.

I thought ; why not? If I’m committed to recycled fashions and reducing waste, then reusing delivery wrapping makes perfect sense. Plus, I’ve always loved a nautical colour palette, so the look felt right at home.

The family didn’t mind at all- in fact, they appreciated the creativity and the effort to cut down on rubbish. We all know how quickly the bins overflow with wrapping paper at Christmas time, so this small change felt meaningful.

It was a reminder that festive joy doesn’t need to come at the cost of excess waste. Sometimes the simplest ideas bring the most appreciation. What did you do different this Christmas?

Amazing Innovation to clean up the ocean

The ocean just got its own giant vacuum cleaner... and it’s 600 meters long. 🌊♻️

Dutch engineers have launched a groundbreaking floating cleanup system designed to collect ocean waste and it’s as long as six football fields. This massive “ocean vacuum” drifts naturally with the currents, scooping up everything from ghost fishing nets to tiny microplastics that poison marine life. Instead of fighting the sea, it works with it... quietly sweeping the water clean while following its natural rhythm.

What makes it even more incredible is how it runs. The system doesn’t use a single drop of fuel it’s powered entirely by nature. Solar energy, ocean waves, and the movement of the sea keep it running day and night. The collected debris is funneled into onboard platforms, safely stored, and later recycled or properly disposed of.

Early trials show it’s already making a huge difference, capturing tons of plastic that would have drifted for decades. It’s proof that innovation and care can go hand in hand that technology, when guided by purpose, can help heal what humanity once harmed. The ocean might finally have a fighting chance. 🌎

Kindness in Every Thread: reuse- recycle

My sister and I were incredibly fortunate to travel to Laos recently where we had the opportunity to donate clothing to families and communities who need it most. Out with suitcases of clothing and back with just our backpacks. Through LSB Recycled Fashion, we’re proud to support the movement of giving clothes a second life- reducing landfill while uplifting lives.

It’s amazing how something as simple as a shirt or pair of shoes can bring comfort, dignity, and joy.

At my workplace, we also host Recycled Fashion Days, where staff share and exchange clothing. It’s a beautiful way to connect, refresh our wardrobes sustainably, and support one another.

Helping others- even in the smallest ways can make a big difference. Let’s keep spreading kindness, one garment at a time.
