Drawing is the universal act through which we record what we see, and present what we imagine. We think, problem solve, communicate.
Drawing belongs to the moment; an unstable medium that allows for irresponsible creation…
Drawing eludes categorisation, the process always conquering the product.
And we never know where the line will take us.
Self Portrait as a House Plant 🪴 looks for young artists who who want connection, extension of skills and processes, and to be a part of the act of drawing.

What happens when hundreds of people contribute to a single artwork?
Join artist Alice Rigby for Self Portrait as a House Plant, a unique two-day collaborative drawing project at The Write Gallery.
Across a series of artist-led workshops, participants of all ages will explore self-expression through experimental drawing, reflection, movement, memory, objects, emotions and mark-making, all while contributing to a giant 25-metre artwork created over 24 hours.
The finished artwork will then be revealed, before being carefully deconstructed and shared as part of the final experience.
No artistic experience required. Just curiosity, creativity and a willingness to be part of something bigger than yourself!
