Why Try Dresses On In Bridal Stores?
Because trying gowns on helps you:
✔ Understand what silhouettes suit your body ✔ Discover what neckline or sleeve style feels flattering ✔ Learn which fabrics you love (and which you don’t!) ✔ Identify features you’d like to merge into one dream design ✔ Gain confidence before committing to a custom couture journey
Even if you want a black wedding dress, coloured wedding dress, floral wedding gown, gothic gown or fairytale ballgown, trying white samples still helps you understand shape and structure.
👰♀️ My Top Bridal Store Tips (Especially If You Can’t Find “The One”)
1️⃣ Ask About Order Timeframes
Most bridal stores require 6–12 months for ordering. This is important if your wedding date is sooner.
2️⃣ Always Get the Style Details
If they don’t allow photos, ask for:
Designer name
Style number
Price
This allows you to reference elements later — especially if you want to customise or merge features.
3️⃣ Fell in Love… But It’s Over Budget?
Breathe 🤍
If a gown is outside your budget, get the details written down. Many brides don’t realise that custom can often be comparable — without retail overheads — and designed specifically for you.
4️⃣ Love the Bodice of One Dress… But the Skirt of Another?

5️⃣ Let’s Talk Fabric (This One’s Big)
Many store gowns are heavy, mass-produced and made from synthetic fibres. Some brides have told me they tried on dresses weighing up to 7kg!
My couture gowns are typically 1–1.5kg, crafted from lighter, more breathable fabrics — which makes a huge difference on your wedding day.
If you’ve tried on tulle in store and hated it — it’s often the quality. Soft, high-grade tulle feels completely different.

6️⃣ Ask About Sizing Fees
Many bridal boutiques charge extra for sizes above a 12.
Always ask them to write down:
Base price
Additional size charges
