πΈπͺβ BABIES SLEEPING OUTSIDE
If you've ever visited Sweden, you may have seen something that surprises many visitorsβ¦
Babies sleeping outside cafΓ©s. πΆπ»π²βπΈπͺ
Mum parks the pram outside, baby sleeps peacefully in the fresh air, and Mum goes inside to fika β coffee and a bulle with friends. βπ₯π€
It's a deeply rooted part of Scandinavian culture.
My own mum did this when I was growing up in Sweden β and I did the same with my children when I lived in Stockholm. πΈπͺ
There's also a strong belief that babies can sleep beautifully outdoors in the fresh air when appropriately dressed and protected from the conditions. πΏβοΈ
And then there's the trust factor.
The level of trust Scandinavian parents can have in their surroundings, allowing their sleeping baby to remain outside in a pram while they sit just inside a cafΓ©, can seem extraordinary to people from other parts of the world.
It's another little example of how naturally Scandinavians incorporate outdoor life into everyday childhood. π²π€
From babies sleeping outdoors to preschoolers spending their days in the forest, being outside isn't an occasional activity in Scandinavia.
It's simply part of life. πΈπͺβ¨
