You might disagree with with this, but dark hair with a blonde elastic (or vice versa) is not a vibe 👎🏻

Will you win or lose a a sash because of it? Probably not!

Am I the hat police, NO! But in my opinion, an inconspicuous hair elastic or headband is part of good FOTF ‘grooming and deportment’… here’s some tried and tested tips you can use to fix yours before Cup Day 🐎 🥰🥰🥰

Some headpieces are a disaster story, others have a happy ending - this one is both!!!

I literally cried twice over this hat!!!

First when I put a hole in the brim 💀

And then again when Milano won $10,000 wearing it 🎉

This hat didn’t just come together. There was a whole lot of testing, failed ideas, problem-solving and questioning my career choices 😆🫣🙄

Winning isn’t everything, but it certainly makes all those tears and mistakes feel worth it.

I’m mostly inspired by art/sculptures, geometry and shapes in nature. I draw on a combination of these when creating my own designs. If it’s striking, bold and unique, I’m all for it… and probably thinking about it at 3am 😂😂😂

NAILED IT 💀 Best Suited Winner at Turnbull Stakes Day Milano Field Fashion is off to the FOTF final on Oaks Day ❤️
The suit tailored to perfection by Alana Pennisi and can we have a moment for the most perfectly styled toes 🙌🏻❤️🙌🏻

Milano’s headpiece started as a completely different idea, swipe to see a small snippet of the evolution from initial sketches to the finished piece (and our million messages back and forward 😝)❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

INITIAL DIRECTION: swirls up and down with something ‘Smokey’ in the mix…

TRYING OUT SHAPES: changing up the swirl direction to check what works…

TESTING SMOKE OPTIONS: experimenting with different materials…

FINAL DIRECTION: more rough sketches 😝

BASE SHAPE COMPLETE: now to add the smokey bits…
