As many of you would know, we own South Coast Brides in Nowra, and I would like to share some news from last night.

I consider myself privileged, but I do not come from privilege.

I come from a low socioeconomic, housing commission, hyper vigilant, unseen trauma, wrong side of the river background. With two very young parents who probably had too many kids who did their best. But it was hard. I did not go to university, I became a mum at 18.

I have gathered information and experience from childhood, through trauma, through becoming a mother, through therapy, through friendships I've collected over my lifetime with trusted women, every trial and error, and every job I've done, charity work I've supported, everything I've forced myself to say yes to instead of my instinctive "no" has built me into who I am.

That is crazy. And I'm really excited about that and I'm really proud of that because, I've tried so hard and I've done it even without traditional education or pathways.

I've mainly done it through loving people and understanding that the greatest of all human needs is to feel safe. And I hope I can continue to always make people around me feel safe.

A personal post but an important one. Skin checks save lives. Today I had a large skin cancer removal and needed a skin graft from behind my ear. I'm very grateful that my instincts told me to get it checked twice - because the first doctor said it was nothing. Turned out to be a carcinoma.

Rest time now - but please book a skin check if it's been ages or if somethings been playing on your mind. I know you're busy because I am too - but it's worth it xx
