Vanessa Bell HQ has a new backdrop this month as we settle into life in Far North Queensland.
Our online store will continue to accept orders via vanessa-bell.com; however, please note that all new orders will be dispatched from **13 July**. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we spend time at our northern station.
For those who are new here, my husband Philip and I operate a large-scale mixed farming enterprise spanning superfine Merino wool production in Walcha, New South Wales, and cattle operations west of Chillagoe in Far North Queensland.
Over the coming weeks, I’d love to share a little more of this extraordinary part of Australia with you.
Our home sits high above the Mitchell River, overlooking kilometres of pristine waterway inhabited by freshwater crocodiles and, on occasion, their saltwater cousins. The landscape feels ancient, raw and deeply humbling. At more than 213,000 hectares, the scale of this country is almost impossible to comprehend. There is no nearby town, just vast horizons, remarkable wildlife, limestone caves, fishing, horses, cattle work and a powerful connection to nature that is difficult to put into words.
I’ll be stepping back slightly from social media while I focus on family, new business opportunities and spending time immersed in this landscape. It is a privilege to be here, and one that is never lost on me. Some places demand that you slow down, pay attention and simply sit with their beauty.
I look forward to sharing this chapter with you.
And yes, despite being in the tropics, the mornings and evenings can still be surprisingly cool — so my Vanessa Bell Merino jumpers have definitely made the trip north.
