Wangaratta Woollen Mills was officially opened in August 1923 on the site it still sits on today by the then-Premier Harry Lawson. Initially producing high quality worsted yarns, it was soon acknowledged to be the most progressive spinner of high quality knitting yarns and subsequently grew to be Australia's largest mainland mill. In 1991, the Wangaratta Woollen Mills label merged with that of Cle

ckheaton and Panda to become the Australian Country Spinners, and then with Patons Australia and Shepherd of New Zealand in 2000. In 2017, Australian Country Spinners and the associated site was bought by Colin Walker, owner and operator of Bendigo Woollen Mills. Mr Walker has since officially restored the name of Wangaratta Woollen Mills to the site.

Announcement: Our bricks-and-mortar shop is closing soon.

We're writing to let you know that the final day of opening for our bricks-and-mortar WWM Mill Shop will be Friday 31 October, 2025.

Never fear, you'll still be able to shop with us online after this date, but we will no longer be operating our physical shop after this date.

While you will still enjoy your WWM yarn and clearance yarns online via our website, we'd love to see you in store before we close the shop if you're local or travelling to Wangaratta.

You can visit us and shop between 8am-3pm on:
* Friday 17 October
* Monday 20 October
* Friday 24 October
* Monday 27 October
* Friday 31 October

This week's Show and Tell is actually from me! 🤣

I crocheted this friend from a modified version of the toy giraffe pattern from Panda's Colour Poppets leaflet, specifically making the neck and back legs longer as well as adding brown patches. I also used 12ply Panda Magnum yarn instead of the recommended 8ply so that the final toy was larger and came together more quickly.

One thing I truly love about amigurumi is how easily patterns can be tweaked to your needs! 😁

Both the Panda Colour Poppets leaflet and the shades of 12ply Panda Magnum used are available in the shop and online. 😊

Well, since last week's Show & Tell featured Pat's crochet baby blankets, this week we have a significantly bigger blanket from Louise! 😁

Louise made this stunner from three different colours of remnant Heirloom Merino Magic Chunky. How amazing are the different textures in it?!?!

Thanks again for Louise for bringing such a heavy - yet incredible - item to the shop to show it off! 😊
