Just finished my project for the weekend.
Used a printed rayon fabric and variety of commercial patterns to create a peasant style top with bell sleeves.
The top is just perfect for the cooler days and will look great with jeans and short boots.

Sit and sew classes

For those of you who would like to do your own thing with a teacher at hand for help and advice. On a week by week basis where everyone works at their own pace.
Relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30pm. $20 per session.

After school teens classes for ages between 12 and 17.

Beginners learn to thread and use a sewing machine, cut fabric and may start on a simple project such as a pillowcase, kitbag or pencil case.

Intermediate and advanced levels can choose their own projects and get help in all stages of completion, with new techniques explained.

HSC and year 9 and 10 textile students may appreciate help with their school projects.

All classes are small in size.

Janome sewing machines used for classes but students are welcome to bring own sewing machines.

Beginners introduction to sewing classes.

The second project for this class is a lined drawstring bag with a zippered pocket.
You will need for this project:
A sewing kit - dressmaking scissors, embroidery scissors, tape measure and pins.
50cm x 100% medium weight cotton fabric that doesn't stretch or fray easily for the main fabric
50cm x 100% medium weight cotton fabric that doesn't stretch or fray easily for the lining material
30 cm x 100% medium weight cotton fabric that doesn't stretch or fray easily for the pocket.
Sewing thread to match - 100% polyester ( gutermann is preferred)

Take your choice of projects for the beginners class - do one or the other or both.
Each project will take 2 x 2 hours depending on sewing ability. Class fee $80.

Beginners introduction to sewing classes starting now.

First project for this class is a buttoned cushion cover. Learn how to use a sewing machine. Classes will cover parts and features of the sewing machine, setting up a sewing machine, how to do seams, hems and buttonholes.

You will need a basic sewing kit - pins, fabric scissors, embroidery scissors, unpicker and tape measure.

To make your cushion cover you will need 50cm of 100% medium weight cotton fabric that does not fray easily, polyester thread 100m (gutermann brand is recommended) to match your fabric and three 20mm buttons.

Classes are small in size and taught by an experienced textiles teacher.

You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine

This is an introductory course that will teach you the basics of the sewing machine. Learn the parts and features of a sewing machine, setting up a sewing machine, different stitches, seams and seam finishes.

The goal project for this course will be a cushion cover.

Course is taught on Janome and Bernina sewing machines but you are welcome to bring your sewing machine.
