Proud to sponsor the Ladies golf ššļøāāļø
As the course was closed to carts there was no report for last week.
This week is very different.
The Tuesday morning social golf only attracted one new golfer. It was wonderful to see Alicia join the group.
If you would like to come and try the game we all love to play, just arrive at the course at 8.45 for a 9am hit off. You will be made most welcome.
Wednesday was the June Monthly Medal and Putts event. Thank you to Wendyās Embroidery Services for your continued sponsorship.
Due to the recent wet weather, the course was playing very long.
Wendy Goodwin had a very consistent round to record a 68 nett despite the very heavy conditions.
Anne Pilon was the runner up with a 75 nett, while Suzanne Smith was the ball winner with a 76 nett.
Suzanne also collected the Nearest the Pin and Drive and Chip in Division 1 and Anne Pilon was the Drive and Chip winner in Division 2.
Rosemary Rossiter was the best putter on the day with 28 putts.
Denise Haworth had the best trick shot of the day. After having a lot of tree trouble on the 9th hole her ball went down through the car park. Thinking she would have to have a penalty and replay her shot as she would be out of bounds, she went exploring to retrieve the ball only to find that it must have hit something to ricochet back under the fence and come to rest in the GUR garden where she could take a drop no nearer the hole and with no penalty. Bet she couldnāt do that again if she tried.
An 18 hole stableford with a draw for partner after play was the order for Saturday.
Bronnie Rogers (38 points) and Linda Glasgow (33) having a total of 71 were the winners.
Coming in second was Anne Noble (29) and Haylie Lemon (34).
Ball winners were Debbie Tulloch (23) and Rosemary Rossiter (34).
Drive and Chip in Division 1 was Bronnie Rogers and Division 2 was Jill Bartlett.
Nearest the Pin in Division 1 was Pat Wood.
It was lovely to have Colleen Patton return to golf after recent surgery.
In Haylieās 34 point round she managed to hit the ball that hard she put a split in it. She finished the hole out with it to add one stableford point to her score. Great effort Haylie.
Rosemary Rossiter and Suzanne Smith travelled to Cowra last Friday to play in the foursomes event of their three-day tournament.
In near perfect conditions the players took to the course for a shotgun start.
Whilst not in the winning circle some good golf was played. You could say they were good golfers out of luck. Although having said that they only landed in three bunkers and managed to get out first go each time. With great weather and great company, a great day was had by all.
There are a number of ladies going to the Grenfell tournament on Sunday 21st June. Good luck to you all.
There is a free golf clinic for adults being conducted by Gary Begg on Saturday 20th June from 2.30 to 4.30. This is a great opportunity for beginners to learn the basics and for those more experienced to fine tune their game.
There are also junior clinics on this day. Beginners from 9am to 10am and advanced from 10.30 to 11.30. Bookings are essential with Steve Howarth on 0427723713.
On Friday 19th our pennant ladies travelled to Orange to play the return match against the Wentworth lady golfers. The results will be published next week.
Ladies, please note that there has been a change in the program. The 1st Stephenson Stableford has been brought forward to the 20th June and the WDLGA Trophy has been moved to the 25th July.
The second round of the Lambourn White Markers is set down for Wednesday 24th June.
